This was the first Kellerman I came across and was extremely impressed by it. Unlike his wife, Faye, Jonathan Kellerman writes from a very dark place, and it pays off, especially against the glitz of LA.
Alex Delaware has received a book that opens up a lot of wounds for his cop friend Milo. They set to work unravelling a decades-old murder... only it's not quite so simple. But then again, is it ever?

This is not my favorite Kellerman book. It seemed to be rather slow moving and was about a "cold" case 20 years old.

Slow starting, but a great middle and finish. Exciting stuff.
love the whole series
A classic murder mystery and a story of good and evil, sacrifice and sin.
Excellent Alex Delaware series book.

I have read the first twenty Alex Delaware books and often wondered about Milo Sturgis' backstory. In Book #16, we hear Milo's narrative about the beginning of his law enforcement career. Kellerman does a great job of unraveling the cold case with revelations that impact Milo's future in the LAPD. One of my favorites in this series.
One of his best. ALex Delaware is up against ghosts from his own past.
This is the best Kellerman in years.
L.A psychologist-detective Alex Delaware has received a strange, anlonymous package in the mail. Inside is an album filled with gruesome crime-scene photos. When his old friend and colleague, homicide detective Milo Sturgis, views the compendium of death, he is immediately shaken by one of the images: a youn woman tortured, strangled, adnd dumped near a freeway ramp. The murder was one of Milo's first cases as a rookie homicide cop: a vicious killing that he failed to solve-and has haunted him ever since. Now, two decades later, someone has chosen to stir up the past. As Alex and Milo set out to uncover what really happened twenty years ago, their relentless investigation reaches deep into L.A.'s nerve centers of power and wealth-past and present. while peeling back layer after layer of ugly secrets, they discover that the murder of one forgotten girl has chilling ramifications that extend far beyond the tragic loss of a single life.
Alex recieves a strange anonymous package in the mail. Inside is an album filled with gruesome crime-scene photos. This one is a real page turner.
typical Kellerman
Kellerman at his finest.
As always, well drawn characters and plot.
solid plot. revenge and justice make for really good reading. one of his best.
This was a great read.
Kellerman at his best
I could not put this book down. It was constantly making me think one person was responsible and then showed me i was soo wrong. excellent read.
Another great book by Kellerman. I like this type of Series that always features the same main character... in this case Alex Delaware. I am now enjoying my third book by this author.
Alex Delaware is the kind of guy that you'd like to have as a friend.
I love Jonathan Kellerman. His psychological analysis of his characters is most thought provoking.
Very well written, I have now read 3 of Kellerman's books and will continue to read more.
I thought this one of the best of the Alex Delaware series. This one is told in the voice of Dr Delaware's best friend, LAPD cop Milo Sturgis. If you've enjoyed the other Kellerman novels, be sure to read this one, because it is intriguing to have another character's perspective.
Very good read more political then i usually read
but loved it.
but loved it.
For fans of this series Milo is the primary focus in this one.
I found this to be a very good read. This one really surprised me!!!!!!!!!

Another good Alex Delaware novel from Kellerman
L.A. psychologist detective Alex Delaware has recieved a strange, anonymours package in the mail. Inside is an album filled with gruesome crime scene photos. With the help of his friend homicide detective Milo Sturgis they find the answer to a long unsolved case.
one of the better of this type
I did not like this book at all. It was the first I've read by this author and it will probably be a while before I'll attempt another. Started out slow and never really picked up. The premise was good, but it wasn't very well fleshed out. It seemed the author concentrated more on the characters' sexual orientations than on the plot, which granted in some cases, can be important, but for this book, it really didn't make a difference in how the story carried out.
Dr. Delaware has received a strange, anonymous package in the mail Inside is an album filled with gruesome crime-scene phots.
Another great read from Kellerman.
Another in the series with Alex Delaware ... good mystery read.
Mr.Kellerman keeps getting better and better! LA psychologist-detective Alex Delaware receives a strange anonymous package in the mail. It is an album of gruesome crime scenes of unsolved murders. Someone has decided to stir up the past......whodunit??
good read, fast paced. i really enjoyed the way that the story unfolded and the clues fell out. there were a few good twists, as always.
This is a great suspense novel of "whodunit." The outcome is one of perfect justice. Great book!
Another great Alex Delaware novel. This one gives a lot of insight into the character of Milo Sturgis. I really enjoyed this one.
Murder mysteries with lots of twists. I never read this author before but I am going to read his stuff from now on!
Alex and Milo set out to find out what really happened 20 years ago in one of Milo's first cases.
I usually like Kellerman, but I had a hard time staying interested in this book. It had a lot of slow spots, then it picked up the pace for a while. While the storyline is pretty good, he used too many pages describing in laborious detail, the scenery, down to the names of each street Dr. Alex and Milo traveled (and they traveled a lot!). I'm a fast reader and when I get bogged down with unrelated details, I forget some of the important things.
A 2002 and the eighteenth of many Alex Delaware mysteries by Kellerman. I read this book a couple years ago, during my Jonathan Kellerman phase, I forgot most of it.
Alex Delaware stricks again. Great read.
Every Murder has a Murder book...but this one makes all the characters pay attention page by page.
I am sure this book is a very good one, but It was hard to get into. I was very distracted with all the detail and began to read more into everything when it was irrelivent to the story. Maybe it was because I was sick while reading it

When L.A. psychologist Alex Delaware receives an elaborate album filled with gruesome crime-scene police photos of a series of apparently unconnected killings, he's stymied. He's also in the midst of a personal crisis--Robin, his long-suffering partner, has made it clear that it's up to Alex to heal the breach in their relationship that's been caused by his over-involvement in criminal investigations. The pictures mean nothing to him, but one image gets his policeman pal Milo Sturgis's immediate attention--the victim was one of his rookie cases, and her murder was never solved, perhaps because someone much higher up in the department didn't want it to be. Was the anonymous mailer attempting to reach Milo through Alex? If so, the package has the desired effect, as the two men team up to find the connection between the cases highlighted in the murder book and whoever sent it. The trail leads to a retired cop, an old mentor of Alex's, and a wealthy, powerful family that will stop at nothing to keep its secrets and its victims buried forever. Kellerman pays more attention to Alex's midlife blues than he needs to, but his focus on Milo's experiences as a gay cop in a homophobic department fits seamlessly into both plot and narrative.

Great book! Kellerman is a wonderful writer! Alex and Milo keep in wanting more and more after each book.
I really enjoyed this book. Goes back to Milo's early career and shows the impact incidents can have 20 years later. Very good book
Very good book....kept me on my toes trying to figure out who the killer was.
L.A. psychologist Alex Delaware and his longtime friend, Homicide Detective Milo Sturgis, work to solve a compelling, but ice cold, case. Teenager Janie Ingalls was viciously murdered twenty years ago and is depicted in "The Murder Book" that is sent to Delaware anonymously
Keeps you on your toes while you try to solve the mystery. Can't put it down.
I love psychological thriller, Jonathqn Kellerman has done it again. A real page turner, hard to put down.Story of drugs, corruption, spoiled rich children and cover-ups .
Excellent author.
The Murder book--very good
Kellerman is a good writer, good plot, story, characters, holds my attention!
The book is an easy read. Typical Kellerman.
The nightmare begins when Alex receives a strange package in the mail with no return address. Inside is an ornate album filled with gruesome crime-scene photos-a homicide scrapbook entitled The Murder Book. Alex can find no reason for anyone to send him this compendium of death, but when Milo reviews the book, he is immediately shaken by one of the images:a young woman, tortured, strangled, and dumped near a freeway ramp. This was one of Milo's first cases as a rookie homicide cop:a vicious killing that he failed to solve, because just as he and his training partner began to make headway, the department closed them down. Being forced to abandon the young victim tormented Milo. But his fears prevented him from pursuing the truth, and over the years he managed to forget. Or so he thought. Now, two decades later, someone has chosen to stir up the past. As Alex and Milo set out to uncover what really happened 20 years ago, their every move is followed and their lives are placed in jeopardy...
My favorite duo are up to their armpits in police procedure and duplicitous characters. Love the Ojai setting.
Classic Jonathan Kellerman bestseller!
another great alex delaware book
Good fast reading
A real good mystery
I love Jonathon Kellerman and have read most of his books. This one did not disappoint!
a great whodunit.
I love this book. It is one of those books that you don't want to put down. Very intense.
A good phychological thriller.
Another good entry in the Alex Delaware series.

Good book.

The Alex Delaware novels are great to read. Pick one up and you'll be hooked no matter where you start with them. Jonathan Kellerman knows how to write a good whodunit that will make you want to know whodunit.
