This second in the series is a lot sexier than the first. Things definitely steam up between the main character and her two hot love interests. By the end you'll be biting your nails in frustration!
The sleuthing here is well-covered and Nikki goes to no small lengths to get this mystery solved. A big plus here is the very-present Simon and Marco, everyone's favorite gay duo. They were fabulous in this and really added to the overall flair of the book.

Well, after reading this second book in the series, my opinion hasn't changed. The wine information is fascinating, it is a technically perfect mystery, Scott hits all her marks for a "pure cozy" and somehow it still manages to come off rather soulless. There's nothing specific to fault - the characters are solid, the writing is good, the plots are well done, it just fails to captivate. Still, a good read.

This is the second "Wine Lover's Mystery" by Michele Scott. Failed actress Nikki Sands has moved to the Napa Valley, where she has started her new job as assistant to winery owner Derek Malveaux. The story opens with Derek and Nikki attending a swanky Napa Valley wedding, only to have Nikki stumble across the body of the bride shortly after the wedding. But when one of Nikki's new friends, Isabel Fernandez, is accused of the murder, Nikki is sure that Isabel is innocent and sets out to find the murderer. This story has really funny characters and two sexy love interests for Nikki. I enjoyed the first story in this series, and this one is even better!

I love this series--the wine, the recipes, the love triangle and the mystery....
Book 2 in A Wine Lover's Mysteries.
Nikki is settling in to her new job a Malveaux vineyard nicely. Things are going smoothly until best friend Isabel is accused of murder! Isabel was hired to cater her ex's wedding and when the bride turns up dead all fingers point the blame on her. Nikki quickly becomes a sleuth, in her extra time, to help prove her friend's innocence. She gets tangled in with some interesting new characters and even takes a trip to San Francisco with the "boys of summer". She even finds herself in a steamy love triangle that definitely leaves you hanging at the end of the book. I enjoyed this quick read and was very entertained. I was also surprised at the end when the murderer was revealed.

Napa Valley wine country, a wedding and murder. Nikki vows to prove her best friend Isabel is not responsible.
The story is funny as the estate owner Derek vies for Nikki's attention over Isabel's brother, Andres.
A visit to San Francisco is helpful to Nikki but dangerous too. I found the book an easy and quick read with good hints about wine and their pairings.

2nd in series; "...Nikki is settling into her job as assistant to Derek Malveaux at Malveaux Estate Winery. When Derek invites Nikki to the wedding of the year in Sonoma she pretty much thinks her dreams have come true. However, things turn dark when the grim reaper elopes with the socialite bride. Everyone suspects the jilted ex-lover of the groom, who happens to be Nikki's best friend, Isabella Fernandez. But, certain that Isabella could never have done the horrific crime, Nikki is determined to find out who the real killer is. The list of suspects is peppered with unusual characters, including a sleazy mortgage broker, a former Victoria's Secret model, the groom's former fiancé, a spurned younger sister, an elderly aunt with a penchant for murderous fiction and a not-so-broken-hearted groom. Of course no mystery with Nikki would be complete unless she had to balance her insatiable curiosity with her own dilemma of which man is the best choice for her. Both her boss, Derek Malveaux and Isabella's brother, Andrés are sending out signals even an amateur sleuth couldn't miss!" (by the author)
