Fun, cozy mystery. First in a series. Gets a little caught up in inane details, like how long it takes her to get from one place to another, but overall, enjoyable. I'd recommend it, and I'll be reading the next in the series--when it comes up on my wishlist, that is.:)

1st in the Desiree Shapiro mystery series
A steady diet of sudden death
Desiree Shapiro, New York PI, is no hard-boiled shamus. She has dimples in her knees, elbows, and some unmentionable places. Desiree is a chubby gumshoe who has a mind as sharp as a Cuisinart and a queen-sized talent for sleuthing. Her heart is pretty big, too, which is why she agrees to take the case of the poor grocery kid accused of killing the old lady in apartment 15D for the money stashed in her freezer. Sure, the boys fingerprints on the refrigerator make the problem stickybut only until theres yet another murder in the same building. Before anyone can say Haagen-Dazs, Desiree bets she will be able to finger the real killer. Shes detoured by dinner with a bachelor, but he, unfortunately, turns into a suspect. So while her love life is chilling out, Desiree cooks up a scheme to trap a lean, mean, decidedly unsavory killer. And we wont deny itthis is just the first, on a complete menu of sizzling murder mysteries to feature the full-figured and funny Desiree Shapiro.

Desiree Shapiro is an older queen-sized P.I. with her first murder case. She would not even be involved in it if it the murders had not taken place in her niece's apartment building. There are too many suspects with shaky alibis and each tells her his or her own lies. Funny, entertaining and keeps you guessing.
