Murder Can Singe Your Old Flame (Desiree Shapiro, Bk 6)
Murder Can Singe Your Old Flame - Desiree Shapiro, Bk 6 Author:Selma Eichler She doesn't jog, she doesn't know karate, and she doesn't pass a bakery without a slight detour. She's Desiree Shapiro, and she's got a big enough heart to help an ex-boyfriend find out who killed his blushing new bride.
I love all of Eichler's books with Desiree Shaperio. This one is no exception. If you are interested in female P.I.s and if you can relate to a larger than life woman, then this one is for you.
Desiree is contacted by an ex-boyfriend who was two-timing her when they were going out. In fact, he married the woman that he was two-timing Desiree with. She loathes the man and hangs up on him several times. He finally convinces her to take her calls to beg her to investigate the death of his wife. He is sure she has been murdered and worried that he will be the main suspect. Desiree has suspects but no real clues as to the perpetrator and the case is frustrating to her. When she finally figures out who did kill Cheryl, she nearly dies before she can prove it! I always enjoy Ms. Eichler's novels about Desiree Shapiro. Desiree is my kind of P.I. - queen-sized middle-aged single gal who loves life, eating being the first love. :)
Here we have a PI who is different from most. She doesn't jog, doesn't know any martial arts, but when it comes to bakeries etc she just has to stop in on her way to where ever she is going. In this book she comes to the aid of an ex-boyfriend who is being accused of murdering his wife. She is sure he is a louse but she is also sure murder is not something he would do.
