Historical mysteries are always fun for me so I had high hopes for this one; however, using a real person as a character can be an iffy proposition. This is one instance where it works splendidly. Will Shakespeare (during his "lost years" when not much information is extant) becomes a lively, well-rounded character full of wit. While tiny bits of the plot were predicted, most of the ending was quite surprising. This is not only a must-read series for me, it is one I will collect for re-reads.
