Still can't find the copy I thought I had so I'll have to order one. I'll probably find the other one as soon as I get the one I order lol. |

I'm going to pass on this one...I won't read books about children being murdered...just too much reality for me. |

That's alright Sandy. We all have reasons for not wanting to read certain books. :) There are even 2 books I will not have in my house, even to this day. The Exorcist and Helter Skelter. Read both when I was in my teens and they scared the beegeez out of me. |

Never read Helter Skelter but I did read The Exorcist a few years ago and it was pretty creepy even to this horror fanatic. I watched my first horror movie when I was 5, (Nightmare on Elm Street if you were curious,) so as desensitized as I am by now that's gotta say something for it. I don't do books about The Plague, (I dunno why but it feels as if it should be capitalized,) they make me really depressed and I can't read anything else for a long time after. I actually just posted and mailed my copy of Year of Wonders because I just couldn't make myself read it. Last Edited on: 10/31/12 11:32 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I've read Exorcist and Helter skelter when I was much younger. For some reason that kind of thing bothers me more than it used to. I just can't do blood and guts anymore. Kinda weird. |

I'm the same way now. So much of what I used to read and watch really bothers me now. I wonder if it has to do with getting older, seeing too much of the ugliness people perpetrate against each other. In books and movies I don't like anything dark and overly violent, and I can't handle violence against children or animals at all. Children and animals are innocents and defenseless. (Yes, animals have teeth and nails for protection, but such a miniscule percentage -- consider the millions of animals humans live with -- have the will to use them against humans, even in defense of themselves. And of those who do have the will, most have been taught to mistrust humans BY humans in the first place.) A few years ago, a co-worker criticized my choice of TV shows and movies by saying "That's not real life." I said, "I get enough real life IN real life -- I don't need it in my entertainment, too." :o) |

We still on for this? I forgot to read it in time and I have a ways to go yet. Probably at least 4 days. |
