Helpful Score: 1
Norman Mailer writes with a clarity that is often missing from other good novelists. He develops very strong characters and focusses closely on the interactions between them and their environment. Don't expect an action-packed story: The tales here are the soldier's lives and the lack of action is part of war which seems to be very realistically reconstructed.
Blech. I did not like this book. However, if you want a literary look at the evils of war, this is your novel. Mailer is an excellent writer. All the same, I could never read this again.
Interesting read!
Intense war novel with Mailer's unique style of writing. Engrossing.
Quite helpful and complete; easy to use. There was no drink we could think of that wasn't in this book.
The cover art is different but the book is in excellent condition
