Loved it. Great story. Sensual love-making. I usually skim over that stuff. It never really adds to a story. This really did! Wonderful first book!

Very cute book - quick read. Loved the hero and heroine. The misunderstandings were a hoot and the action kept the book moving right along. I did not want to put this down and I'm looking forward to reading The Naked Marquis!

The first thing anyone can say about The Naked Duke is the fact that this is not your mothers bodice ripper. There is a fair amount of violence in this novel, from rape and murder to attempted rape, and assault and more murder. But that being said the novel itself is very well written and these added elements while making it a little harsher also make it more exciting.
Sarah Hamilton is not your typical heroine of a romance book. She is from America and goes to England when her father dies to see her uncle the Earl. Sarah finds out when she arrives that her uncle has died, and all shes left with for family is her drunkard rake of a cousin. But dont count Robbie as a complete sot yet he does come through in the end. Sarah is also older and very naive raised relatively sheltered life with some spinsters. But in the end that doesnt stop her traitorous body from reacting to what she feels.
The Duke of Alvord is an even more of an unlikely person to find in real life let alone in a romance novel. As a 30 year old male, his nickname spread by his vicious cousin Richard is Monk, and shockingly well deserved. But I find these facts to be refreshing in a romance novel. These two people who are relatively innocent in the ways of the bed sheets find themselves unexplainably drawn to one another. Its nice to see them fight and struggle with it, like a normal person would. Struggling to keep a claim on their morals when wanting to give into the desire that flames between them.
The Naked Duke is an excellent read and if youre looking for something a little fresh in your historical romance genre this book will do it for you. It is a part of the Naked series, and I think its a great start to the series. Based on this book I plan without a doubt to continue on and see what the other naked fellows are up to.

A good story line, some violence (I have read that other reviewers were offended by the graphic scenes. All I have to say is OMG, give me a break... an episode of CSI has more violence than this book did, maybe they should stick to kiddie stories then). The main characters are very well written and believable, the heroine is a hoot. She's a down-to-earth American that just doesn't "get" the ridiculousness of the ton's lavish lifestyle... She's outspoken, very innocent, brave... very likable. He's a charming Englishman who doesn't take himself or his consequence as a duke too seriously and falls head over heels for her. The way they meet is a bit fictional, and not that believable, but then hey, it is a fictional romance right??? Overall, I gave it four stars... can hardly wait to read the rest of the "Naked" series.

I did not find anything humorous at all about this book. Rape-murder, rape-for-hire, and attempted rape. Not in my romances. Also, the American heroine is orphaned, penniless, and has no where to live. She would rather be a paid governess or companion than marry a rich and handsome duke who is courting her and she is attracted to because she feels she is unworthy. Come - on. (IMO-TSTL) And did I mention the hero is a 30-yr-old VIRGIN? I do hope the rest of the series is better than this one.

I loved this witty Regency debut novel by Sally MacKenzie ... I'll definitely read more of her books!
Oh my. This was going to be a solid 3* read, but then that happened.
Anyway, Sarah travels to England after her father dies, because that is what he wanted. He was the younger son of an Earl. So when she arrives and is offered a bed after not being able to sleep in a bed due to her traveling, she takes it. Unbeknownst to her, Robbie believes she is a prostitute and is setting her up with James, a duke. When James goes up to bed, he finds her sound asleep and unable to wake her, he decides to just sleep there too. Of course when the morning comes, James' relatives find them together. Robbie is now the earl and is Sarah's cousin and is good friends with James. James offers Sarah a place to stay as a companion to his sister Lizzie and his fiance. However, Sarah is unsure if she really wants to marry him. Oh, and his cousin Richard is trying to kill him so he can be the duke.
James was a fantastic hero; he's a sweetheart, romantic, and responsible. He knows he needs a wife and he and Sarah get along, so why not? I thought their love story was sweet. this was one of the funniest and relaxing books i have read..it is one of those you read in a night; it has just over 300 pages...and kept me interested to the end...when it was over i felt kinda sad..it is one of those that you wanted to know more about the characters futures!

Without reiterating too much of the back cover information, boy and girl accidentally find themselves naked in bed together. Surprise he's a duke, surprise she's the niece of an Earl. He volunteers to "do the right thing" and immediately marry her, she's lukewarm to the idea. Most of the book is them circling closer together, slowly resolving her various reasons for holding him at bay. All tied together with a rather melodramatic subplot of danger and foul play.
The main characters are fairly cute and sweet together. Historical accuracy almost entirely absent. The author hasn't researched much about the Regency era: she has couples dancing holding each other in every dance, not just the waltz, and every other dance is a waltz. Society matrons immediately accept an untitled, unsophisticated American into their stratosphere. Society matrons tell same girl that she deserves to "have a good time". I have never gotten the idea that anyone cared about young women having a good time in that era.
The villain was a cartoon he was so bad. The resolution was predictable and pat. The sensuality in the book was almost entirely absent. For a book with "naked" in the title, it was very tame.
Overall, OK but probably not reading more from this author. Lack of detail and research about the era was too distracting and disappointing.

I liked this book so much that I had to find more by theis author. I feel safe in recommending this to someone who likes a little spice in their historicals
I was realy suprised that I liked the book this much! I had not heard of this author, but quickly read most of the series -- except for the GENTLEMAN that is unavailable except to purchase.

Great romance
I liked the storyline, but was disappointed by the heroine being so naive (like doesn't know how babies are made), but yet very easily seduced by a virgin (really?) hero. I have the rest of the series, hopefully they get better!
