This is an excellent historical book, Based on a true story. These are books the guy in my house enjoyed also so are not just fiction for women but books even a man can read and be satisfied with.
Jane Kirkpatrick is a very gifted Award winning author and I have enjoyed every book of hers I have read. History comes alive as you read the pages of her books. She does an wonderful job of fleshing out historical facts She also includes historical notes and a list of suggested readings for further research if you desire to learn more.
This is the first in a series of three and I would highly suggest reading them in order. They are books you will read and learn from.

An excellent historical novel based on a true story of a Native American woman, married to a 1/2 French, 1/2 Native American Interpreter who accompanied others o find a shorter way to the Oregon city of ?Astoria where they planned to ship furs to China. The expedition was funded by John Jacob Astor, and their group was called the Astorians. Plenty of adventure, stealth, sorrow and pathos. This woman, Marie, even meets Sacajawea and is befriended by her.
