This was a great book! The relationship with Marie and Pierre Dorion felt so real--it was not all happiness, but a lot of heartache mixed with the good. This book left me wanting to read the other books in the series. I highly recommend this!

I loved this book. Jane K. really weaves a beautiful quilt of history and relationships in her story of a wonderful Indian woman who marries a French Canadian . Marie, the woman, goes through many hardships and one great heartbreak in this book and makes you cheer for her all the way through.
A wonderful, gripping tale told by a gifted author who draws you into the characters' lives and leaves you wanting the next book yesterday!
Good insight into what traveling across the US to the Pacific must have been like for those first explorers.
I loved this book. Grab some kleenex. Very emotional read.

Every book of Jane Kirkpatrick gives you a very realistic view of early life in the west, from a woman's viewpoint. This book has lots of early women of the indian culture represented. She is my favorite NW author.
