I hate this book! I am 1/2 way through and cant wait for the it to end. I loved book one and the movie. I love the nanny in book one. NOW I think she is shallow, and weak. The X's are out of control. Her new job is a scandal. If this doesnt get better and the people all get their just rewards, I will be very unhappy. Life is too short to read bad books. Save yourself! It is too late for me.

I highly suggest before reading this sequel to "The Nanny Diaries" you read (or re-read) the first one. I did not and had no idea what was going, and realized that I didn't even care enough to figure it out. Very disappointed.

If you enjoyed the Nanny Diaries, you will enjoy this sequel. It does not review any material from the first book so you really need to have read the Nanny Diaries to appreciate this book. This book takes place 12 years later when Nan returns to New York with her husband, the former "Harvard Hottie." She crosses paths with Grayer and the X family and other characters that have grown up. This is a humorous (but actually sad) look at how the extremely wealthy parent teens and use their money to get out of parenting. It looks at private schools of the super wealthy, hedge funds, apartment renovations and employees and teachers asked to compromise their values for a paycheck. I can't say more without giving away the plot, but if you enjoyed the Nanny Diaries, you will definitely enjoy the sequel.

It took me awhile to get through this book. The nanny was annoying, weak, a doormat, and it was exasperating. I stuck with it though, and the ending was good enough for me to give this book 3 stars. I definitely prefer the first book over this one.

After really feeling for the characters in the original book, I was greatly disappointed with the sequel. It never seemed to get organized and so many things seemed so ridiclously far-fetched. The authors put Nanny in the most ridiculous situations, to try to piece together their story, and it just doesn't work at all. Very disappointed!
I had a VERY hard time getting into this book until a little more than halfway through. It seemed very disorganized which may be due to it being written by two authors, but is something they didn't seem to have trouble with in the first book. I think maybe things would have made a little more sense had a read the first book a little more recently because I was at a loss in the memory department when I needed to figure out what the hell was going on. I enjoyed the book once they got to Citrine's in the Hamptons, but I felt like the whole "Citrine goes from BFF to bitch" in less than a month wasn't very thought out and we never got any "closure" on what happened with the friendship in the end. Plus the whole school thing with Nan acting like an idiot with no backbone was annoying. It was ok, but a big disappointment when comparing to the first book.
I ended up really liking this book, although I almost put it down after the first 50 pages or so, because I just wasn't into it and was disappointed that I wasn't immediately sucked in ... but if you stick with it and give it a chance, the book will eventually grab you and suck you in. The book DOES have a lot of characters, but about halfway through, the focus becomes more on Nan and the X boys, and this is what I loved, this is why I bought the book - to see how Nan and the boys meet up again, how they interact and grow and what happens after all these years. The um, antics (not sure if that's the right word) of the X boys' parents is atrocious and no less shocking than 10 years ago. Grayer has some understandable issues but is still lovable and Stilton - you just want to reach into the pages and hug him.
There is a side story about Nan and her consulting job at the school, and I found the actions of the kids there as shocking as the adults' reactions. I think the school is where the abundance of characters can confuse, esp. at the beginning, but again, toward the end, the story lines tie together clearly and delivers a nice punch.
Another story thread in the background of the story involves Nan's friends, and mostly absent husband, Ryan. Nan's friends, coupled with the people she works with at the school, make for a lot of people to get to know and remember. But each plays a role, however small, in making the story what it is. I liked the overall story and am glad I read it.

this book was not nearly as good as the first- it was lacking the heart of the first book and had far too many characters to follow- and the story was just not put together well.
Despite the fact there was too much going on at times, and other parts being predictable, this was a lighthearted and enjoyable read.
I'm only on chapter 10 when I came here to read other reviews. This sequel to the Nanny Diaries is such a disappointment. Nan Hutchinson (now married to "Harvard Hottie") has no backbone and is no longer interesting. She is consulting at Grayer's prep school trying to contain some sexting scandals, but the characters are thinly drawn, with no clear motivation. I don't know if I will waste my time trying to continue. Definitely disappointing!
