If you've never read Connelly or if you've read Connelly, but not one of his Bosch books, this is a great one to start with. It sets the stage for many of his later books. When I read the back of one of Connelly's Bosch books, I never thought I would be interested, but a friend lent me a copy so I gave it a try. NOW I AM HOOKED! I think I've now read every book Connelly has ever written.

A good book on its own, but a real treat for anyone who has followed the Connelly characters of Harry Bosch, Rachel Walling, and Terry McCaleb as they all come together in this novel. Suspenseful and fast paced.

I would recommend reading both The Poet and Blood Work before reading this book.

(One fun tidbit: Connelly wrote the book Blood Work which was subsequently made into a Clint Eastwood movie. Then in this book, one of Connelly's fictional characters refers back to the movie complaining about how he was portrayed and discussing the royalty he received for the use of his likeness. Loony. )

In this one, he pulls in Terry McCaleb (Blood Work) and Rachel (the FBI agent who shot the Poet) and The Poet (Backus-agent turned serial killer) and of course, Mr. Harry Bosch. I love everything by Connelly. This is another great one. (10th of the Bosch series)

One of Connelly's better stories. A good sequel to the very good "The Poet." Good, strong well developed characters and plot. Proves Connelly can really write a good tale when he wants to.

FBI agent Rachel Walling finally gets the call she has dreaded for years. The one that tells her the Pooet has resurfaced. She has never forgotten the serial killer who wove lines of poetry in his hideous crimes- and apparently he has not forgotten her.

Another good novel by Michael Connelly. An FBI agent is trying to track down a resurfaced serial killer who got away from her years before and effectively ended her career. A bit scary, a bit intriguing...basically a easy read when you're in the mood for something light.

This 10th Harry Bosch novel links the retired LA cop with
characters from previous non-Bosch novels. A serial killer
and ex-FBI agent named Robert Backus, the title character
from Michael Connelly's first novel, THE POET, was commonly
thought to be dead. But now the Poet has resurfaced and
has started killing again. At risk is FBI agent Rachel
Walling, a former protégé of Backus who subsequently
investigated his first killing spree. As she begins a
new hunt for the Poet, her path crosses that of
Harry Bosch, who believes that the natural-seeming death
of a friend, Terry McCaleb (a character from Connelly's
BLOOD WORK and A DARKNESS MORE THAN NIGHT), may actually
have been one of the Poet's murders.

This was my first foray into the Harry Bosch stories. It was a great read! It had a puzzle to solve, a romantic interest, danger and thrills. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to read more of the Bosch escapades!
