Cussler does it again. Here is another great tale. As always, there is some event far in the past (two events in this book) that lead to the adventures of Austin and Zavala. While there are historical references here and there, you have to put credulity aside and just sit back and enjoy a well-spun tale that borders on fantasy but makes for a good story. If you like Cussler, you will like this one.

(from the inside cover) For six books, Clive Cussler has chronicled the adventures of Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and the rest of the NUMA Special Assignments Team, in novels that are "spine tingling" "rip-roaring" and "wildly entertaining". His new tale, however, is the most audaciously imaginative of all. Years ago, an ancient Phoenician statue known as the Navigator, was stolen from the Baghdad museum, and there are men who would do anything to get their hands on it. Their first victim is a crooked antiquities dealer, murdered in cold blood. Their second very nearly is a U N investigator who, were it not for the timely assistance of Austin and Zavala, would now be at the bottom of a watery grave. What's so special about this statue? Austin wonders. The search for answers will take the NUMA team on an astonishing odyssey through time and space, one that encompasses no less than the lost treasures of King Solomon, a mysterious packet of documents personally encoded by Thomas Jefferson, and a top secret scientific project that could change the world forever. And that's before the surprises really begin... Rich with all the hair-raising action and endless invention that have become Cussler's hallmarks, The Navigator is the best yet.

Action, adventure, definately something to read to 'get away' from everything for a while.
I enjoyed the book, have been reading all his 2008-2009 books and they have all been good.
Classic clive and paul. Good storyline.
The most remarking novel yet in the number 1 best selling New York Times series. Great gift or great book for you. This is the 7th book in the Numa series.

Typical Clive Cussler! Good read.
Who was really the first to sail to the new world? What were the origins of Native American Indians? Why were Thomas Jefferson and Meriwether Lewis forced to communicate using secret codes? And who thwarted each of these incidents that crossed centuries? These are common threads wound throughout this story staring NUMA star Kurt Austin.
Clive Cussler adds a layer of interest and intrigue to this and many of his stories by tying in historical facts or possibilities that can take the average Action and Adventure book and move it toward a Mystery. Although more background is required to set up the story line, in the end a better product can hold on to your attention until the last chapters.
If you have read any of the previous novels in any of the NUMA series' then you know there is a large cast of characters included to bring about a globe trotting story like this. If you make friends with these characters then each book will make you feel like an insider.
Enjoy!
