Better than I had heard - this is a great story revolving around a woman who has to leave behind her adopted son in South America during a coup because of faulty paperwork...and the SEAL who forced her into that decision. If you read Next to Die and remember the "hot tub" scene - Solomon is the Hero of this book.

This is the first Marliss Melton book I have read and I really enjoyed it. Jordan is trying to adopt a Venezuelan orphan and litterally has him ripped from her arms as she is rescued from the area by US SEALS. Her determination to bring the child to the US takes her back to Venezuela after she has fallen in love with the SEAL who plucked her from Venezuela the first time. At the same time, her sister who has lost her husband but is pregnant with his child is opening an equestrian center for handicapped veterans and is reunited with a previous male friend who is recovering from lossing his entire family. It sounds complicated but all works together very nicely. Great easy read!

This whole Navy Seals series is excellent! I love the way Marliss
Melton writes. I'm always anxious for the next book in the series.

Jordan Bliss is in the process of adopting Venezuelan orphan Miguel when the war town country becomes unstable and she has to hide from the rebel soldiers. Navy SEALS are sent to rescue her, but in the process Miguel is ripped from her arms and left behind. Navy SEAL Solomon McGuire is bothered by the fact that he had to leave the child behind. He feels for Jordan. As he gets to know her, Solomon promises to do everything in his power to reunite Jordan with her son.
This is the fifth book in Melton's Navy SEALs Team Twelve series. There are several story threads in this book and I found them all entertaining. The main story is about Jordan and Solomon. I liked both characters and thought they were well matched. I wasn't very happy with some of Jordan's choices and thought she really should have thought about the consequences of her decision and left everything to the experts.
There is a secondary romance between Jordan's widowed sister, Jillian, and FBI agent Rafael Valentino. It was a nice addition to the book. And, Melton sets up the next story in the series. I'm looking forward to it. My rating: 4 Stars.

I really enjoyed this book. IT keep me on the edge of my seat and making me want to ready the rest of the series.
Overall, not a bad idea for a book...but I just couldn't like any of the characters, secondary ones included. The Hero for most of the book was a jerk, until the end, the Heroine, a little bit naive....
the Heroines' sister seemed too self involved and her love interest seems shallow...Other then taking the focus off the main characters/story, and providing Ms Melton future characters to write about, they (and the other minor characters presented) didn't really serve a purpose in this book...
although out of all the characters I'd have to say I like The Heroine, Jordan best...or rather her dedication to adopting the boy she tries to rescue...despite that everyone around her seems to think that just because she's adopting him, that makes him less her child then if she'd birthed him, herself... (that particular view point annoyed me more than anything else)
Though the story needs tightening this wasn't a bad book, but it has no place on my keeper shelf.
