I think I should have listened to this on tape. I got this feeling half way through that I wanted to know what happened but I didn't want to watch, like closing your eyes during a scary movie, but that is impossible to do when reading. I powered through because I had to know what would happen to everyone. this is a powerful book about a powerful disease. Being a social worker, I have had one experience with Munchausen by proxy and it was devistating. This book is a very realistic portrait of the disease and what it can do to a family and the difficult way to prove it. It is a very serious book, it is raw with emotions and you need to be ready to step into the emotions whole-heartedly, but read it, embrace it and know that it has a great deal of truth within it.

This is a disturbing look at a family whose mother has Munchausen syndrome. The story kept me hooked and I read this book in only a couple of days. I'm definitely going to look up more information Munchausen syndrome, because while I'd heard of it, it always seemed to be so "out there" that I'd never really given it much thought. This story makes it all too real.

Excellent! Very gripping. Not for the faint of heart and not for one who has had experience dealing with someone with Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.
this book was beautifully written, absolutely stunning in its lyricism. it reminded me a bit of a jodi picoult book, but better and without the courtroom drama. a story of mothers and daughters and sisters and skeletons in closets that can still reach out and wrap their bony hands around your neck, even after you thought you'd moved on. very much recommended.
