Do yourself the great favor of reading/hearing Gardner's SAY GOODBYE before you read/hear THE NEIGHBOR. You will have a much better understanding of the characters and background of THE NEIGHBOR.
THE NEIGHBOR is one of the most finely crafted mysteries I've read in a very long time. I looked forward to every little piece of time I could eke out in order to listen to the next part of this gripping story.
It is narrated in real time, but moves from the voice of one character to the next, which builds tension but also fills in gaps from earlier parts of the story. What a masterful piece of work!

Lots of twist and turns in this one .A sequal to The (spiders). We find out what happened to the boy abducted by the Burger Man. He is a grown up family man trying to make it in real world. His wife has more in common with his abused past the he thinks.

I listen to the audio cd's during my commute. This is the first time I could not wait until tomorrow's drive to see what happened and brought the remaining 2 cd's inside to listen.
That's how gripping the suspense was.
But, as others have said, the resolution is, well, unresolved. It was like working on a piece of art for days and then being told you have to finish it in 5 minutes. So you throw some paint on the canvas, letting it splatter wherever, and then say it's done.
