One of the few books I have stopped reading before getting to the ending. It's a terrible mix of the movie armageddon and the da vinci code. His writing style is so hard to follow I kept re-reading things to see if I had missed a page.

Nice Touch on possible end of the world spin. First Napier book, plan on ordering other listing.

Everyone else seems to give this a half star. I give it 2-1/2. It was OK for what it is.

Asteroid about to hit the USA, predicted 400 years earlier in Latin manuscript, time running out.

Author Bill Napier's first novel, NEMESIS, features a Scottish astronomer, Dr. Oliver Webb, who is racing against time to find an earth-crossing asteroid that has been deflected by a foreign power to strike and completely destroy North America. After one of Webb's colleagues dies in an unlikely accident, he discovers that the key to the asteroid's identity is cryptically concealed in a 17th century astronomical manuscript penned by a Catholic monk who was accused of heresy. A surprise ending highlights this action-packed thriller. If you like James Rollins' ICE HUNT or Matthew Reilly's CONTEST, then you'll like NEMESIS.

Good story, lots of science involved. I like that kind of info. Really surprised by a couple of twists but, essentially knew the ending not far into the book.

The code buried in a centuries-old manuscript is the only salvation for the survival of the United States. An electrifying tace against time, Nemesis spans centuries and the globe in a white-hot journey through physics, history, geopolitics-and mankind's ultimate duel with the unknown.
A fast paced and a great read!

This book is a relatively uninspired rehash of an oft-repeated plot.

Some faction of the government invents a natural disaster in order to stage a coup...blah, blah, blah.

I have always enjoyed Napier's writing, but not this time.
