I didn't like this one as well as the first one. Very little plotting, just stringing from one violent scene to another with Rowan continually putting himself in jeopardy and trying to convince us that it's the right thing to do. Very little character development from the last book, which is too bad because I really like Rowan and Felicity and would like to get to know them better. I hope the next book contains more about them. I don't think St. Louis can support another serial killer in such a short time anywayâ¦a new theme is needed.

This is the second Rowan Gant book in which a witch hunter, armed with an ancient witch-hunting manual terrifies the city by murdering witches. Rowan aids the police in solving the mystery. This is a well-written and intense novel. It's nice to see something knowledgeable and pagan-oriented at the same time. A good read!

I absolutely loved this book (and the series so far). The descriptions, the characters and the writing style make this story come alive and I couldn't put it down. M.R. Sellars makes it seem like you are right there in the middle of the story. Fast paced with lots of suspense. Definitely a thrill ride.

Outstanding book! Suspense, realistic attempted portrayal of an alternate religion in everyday terms with believable people.
In 1484, Pope Innocent VIII isued a papal bull--a decree giving the endorsement of the church to the inquisitors of the day who hunted, tortured, tried and ultimately murdered those accused of heresy--especially the practice of Witchcraft. Modern day Witches refer to this dark period of history as THE BURNING TIMES.
Rowna Gant returns to face a nightmare long thought to be a distant memory. A killer armed with gross misrepresinterpretations of the Holy Bible and a 15th century Witch Hunting Manual known as the Hammer of Witches has resurrected the Inquisition, and the members of the St. Louis Pagan community are his prey.
With the unspeakable horrors of THE BURNING TIMES being played out across the metropolitan area, Rowan is again enlisted by Homocide Detective Benjamin Storm and the Major Case Squad to help solve the crimes--all the while knowing full well that his religion makes him the next potential target.
