You Will Never Be Me by Jesse Q. Sutanto is all about social media Influencers gone wrong. I've read three of the author's cozy mysteries (Vera Wong and two Aunties books) with mixed results, and was surprised she wrote this dark thriller for adults, and it's not her first in this subgenre.
Meredith and Aspen are best friends ... until they're not. Both are social media influencers with huge followings on Instagram and TikTok, but when one of them achieves more success than the other, their relationship changes drastically, and trouble ensues.
This plot, told from both points of view, is very compelling due to good pacing, short chapters, and compelling action. I read it over a weekend and enjoyed the escape it provided. I'll never reach the level of social media influencing as these characters, nor do I want do.
