I give this 5 stars!!! and I don't do that very often!

A well written book is one that starts the story and pulls you in from page 1 and continues throughout the entire book and this one fits that bill to the T!

A quick, fun read with lots of twists and turns! I liked the fast pace and the straight to the point style of writing without all the extra fluff.

This is a page turner with twists, as per usual Barclay style. There are references to the characters from his book No Time for Goodbye. I love all of Barclay's books and this book is a thriller that had me hooked all the way through. What was different and hard to wrap my head around was that none of these characters (including the protagonist) are good. They are all shady characters, so who to root for? A fun read, in the end, but quite different.

I have read and enjoyed many books by Linwood Barclay but this one was a 'miss' in my opinion. Usually you can identify and care about at least one character, rooting for them to come out on top of the mystery and intrigue. But every main character in this book was basically unlikable. Not only did they break the law, but their justifications for doing so were selfish, immature, and downright mean. The chief detective was good at her job, but her character wasn't developed enough to make you care about her.

Not as good as the usual Barclay books, but good enough to keep me reading throughout the night. One cannot really like any of the characters, all are shady with no redeeming features, but it's fun to see how it all works out in the end.
