I actually can't believe that the Medieval Scots were such sensitive New-Age guys, but I sure enjoyed the story anyway! A quick escapist read, I'll be looking for the rest of the series.

This courageous heroine and open-minded hero moved me to tears in several places. Eveline survives physical and emotional trauma. Graeme finds love even though he has been forced to wed his enemy. Historical romance doesn't get any better than this in my opinion!

A thoroughly enjoyable tale of a deaf and seemingly mute heroine who falls in love with a good, strong Scottish warrior. Of course, there's the requisite animosity, even hate, between their two clans, but Banks made it sound fresh as she has a knack of doing. I loved how Graeme fell in love wholeheartedly; he didn't try to fight his feelings and believed his love for Eveline and her happiness far outweighed perpetuating the hate for the Armstrongs. At a certain point, I grew skeptical about the extent of Eveline's ability to read lips, but the author's note outlining her personal experience with this convinced me. This is a lovely romance and a very good read, which I believe deserves four stars.

This book was a good read, not great. I am a big fan of Maya Banks, but this book didn't reach its full potential. The story revolves around Eveline Armstrong, a young woman who is considered "touched" due to her being deaf. When her family plans an arranged marriage to their enemy, the Montgomerys, she finds herself wedded to Graeme Montgomery, a proud and bold warrior of his clan. I liked the basic premise, but there was something missing.

I really enjoyed this book! I can't imagine how it would be having a disability in that time period. I admire the hero and heroine's courage, strength, and loyalty, as well as their love story. There were a few errors that the editor may have missed, but I enjoyed the story. I'm looking forward the next book in this series!

And she lets the clan believe she's daft to escape a marriage to a monster. 3 years later a decree by the king sees her married to her families enemy, but not the monster.
Graeme Montgomery her new husband has a voice so deep she can hear it. Danger threatens and the Scottish warrior will move heaven and earth to save the woman who has awakened his heart to the beautiful song of a rare and magical love.
