This book is a quick and interesting read about a woman who posed as a man and fought in the Civil War. Her experiences are varied, mirroring those of the many who fought along side her. Thought the author did a fairly nice job of putting narrative into the voice of the woman who was there. I'd give it four stars.
Neverhome by Laird Hunt is the story of Constance Ash Thompson, who dressed herself as a man and fought in the Civil War. Through her eyes, the book depicts the struggle of surviving a war. Much as I looked forward to the premise of the book, this was not the book for me both because of gaps in the content and the writing style.
