The title is a bit confusing. There is nothing NEW about photography. Photography has been around for a long time. I think this is a great book with lots of examples of images that are creative and shows you different techniques on how to capture those images. If you are a beginner photographer, it's good to study the examples to get the photographers eye and come up with your own unique style. This is for old school SLR photography, not digital DSLR cameras. The cameras mentioned in the book are outdated and discontinued.
