I've posted many wish listed books over the years, but this is a new explanation as to why the book has the 'faint' RED W:

This book has no ACTIVE wishes right now. There is currently at least one INACTIVE wish for the book in an account that idle or on vacation.

One of the books I posted has 8 wishers. Can't believe all are either idle or on vacation. Has anyone else seen this and can anyone shed any further light on exactly what it means?   Thanks. Pat

Either the account has it on hold or the account does not have credits for the book. I've seem the light red W when there are copies posted. So the account just needs to get unheld.

From the help desk:

Now, we've created the Pale Red W, which has some extra information.

If the W showing is a PALE red, that indicates that there is a wish, but it is not an active wish:

  • Either the wishing member has her/his account on hold (and the wish is not set to auto-request),
  • OR
  • The wishing member has her/his account on hold and the wish IS set to auto-request, but s/he hasn't the credits/funds to request it.
  • OR
  • The wishing member has the wish on individual Hold on her/his Wish List.

When you see the Pale Red W, you know that you might get a request for that book soon - or it may take a while.

  • When the Vacation Hold (or the individual Wish List Hold) is removed,  or
  • When the wisher gets Book Credit and/or Swap Fee (whichever is needed) to request the book, the Wish will become active and your book will be offered to that wisher.
  • The PALE red W on a listing for an available book on a Bookshelf does not prevent anyone from requesting the book from your Bookshelf without using the Wish List.

I understand about the pale red W, but  I don't understand the new explanation.

Thought the old explanation was only 'wisher does not currently have a credit' to request a book.

Jeanne - that used to be the explanation and that I understood. However, guess it's a moot question now as all books were accepted and all have been sent out.

Slightly different but related...  When looking at my on-vacation bookshelf with books sorted by "wishlisted, descending", non-wishlisted books appear to follow the wishlisted ones in descending alphabetical oder.  However I occasionally see books that show current wishers = 0, with no "W" mark, sorted in with Wishlisted books or, if there are no wishlisted books, before the nonwishilisted books with titles starting with "Z".
Anyone know why some books are sorting as if they are wishlisted when they show wishers = 0?

The book i currently have that is behaving this way is

The Chessmen (Lewis, Bk 3)
Author: Peter May
ISBN-13: 9781623657154

From what I can tell, there is at least one wisher who has his/her account on Vacation Hold. So, if I'm correct, the book should be showing a pale red W, but, for some reason, is not. (Not a very satisfying explanation, I know.) The Admin Team could look into it further, if you ask them.

Please note that because I have so many wishlist books, I often keep my account on hold, or I would be shipping books every day which I would fine difficult to do for financial and personal reasons (I am handicapped.). My account is on hold right now till late April. then I will reopen it for a week or two and send out multiple volumes.
