My daughter knew how I used and loved the first Georgia Bonesteel Lap Quilting book... so she gave me two new ones! Oh boy, what a feast! The color plates alone make this book a keeper!
When I saw her Bargello quilts on page 44-45, I knew I had to make one... then I made two! No templates or patterns! Make it in miniature for a wall hanging (I did!)... make it full sized for a quilt (I did... the NBC quilt with the varied width bands on the bottom of the page).
There are nearly forty pages of full-sized templates for the illustrated quilts! Just wait until you see the Shadow Cats block!
If I could just get my vision back, I would be keeping this beautiful book!

New techniques and over 50 new designs for lap quilting. New ideas include taking the bulky layers out of appliqué and machine-appliqué the single-surface way. Using bargello needlework as inspiration, clothing is embellished with one-of-a-kind designs and bargello quilt designs are included. Describes freezer-paper patchwork making one-of-a-kind templates or templates with unusual shapes. With freezer paper, it's easy to create patchwork pictures and quilts with those perfect points.

There's an entire chapter on "breaking the rules." Explanations of how to make plaids work and how checked fabric can be used to make a set of baby quilts and how wool can be used to make a quilt top.

There's a lesson plan and a design for teaching to kids. There's a year long lesson plan for a quilting class.
