Mason is a kind of anti- practitioner. He is reluctant at best, he would rather play jazz music and chill out. So when he gets another problem presented to him, he does so with reluctance.
When other practicioners come up dead, he starts investigating. Old friends show up and soon he finds out all is not as it seems to be.
Something is not adding up, black practioners come into the mix, and what is truth and who is causing the deaths bugs mason.
Soon he is up to his eyeballs in trouble.. bridge people are not whom they seem to be, Ifrits are not what he thought and where did they come from anyhow???
this is another great installment in the Mason and Louie series..
entertaining and fun, this is second in the series and ends with questions and a teaser for another..

This book is much along the lines of the first. Some of the same characters, but new and interesting ones, as well. I like the mix of magic, humor, and fun with the shock moments and dark elements of this series.

Okay, I wasn't a huge fan of the first book, but I loved the ifrit so much I decided to go on with the series and get this book.

Mistake.

The ifrit is still cute. The story line was not so cute. The clues that pointed out what was going on were glaringly obvious. I kept thinking that I couldn't be right, that it couldn't be so easy to figure out. But I was right. It was that easy to figure out. I found myself waiting for the clueless "hero" to catch up. I mean, this book is written in the first person. So I only knew what he knew and I still got it.

I'm going to skip the rest of the series and just remember Lou the almost dog ifrit and his pet idjit fondly.

1/2 stars out of 5 because of the cute Lou.
