I absolutely loved this book. It is an engaging read, smart and funny. The story of Prudence and her sister is an updated take on Sense and Sensibility. Great dialogue, great characters, the writing never seems forced or fake. I was hooked from the first page and read this one late into the night. Rebecca Flowers is a wonderful storyteller. Can't wait her for next book.

The first half of the books drags on and on. I almost stopped reading it. But about half way through, it started to pick up and i enjoyed it to the end.
A light and funny book that still manages to draw you into its slightly more complicated (and well drawn) life trajectories than what we are used to in love stories of a a lost generation. If you are a professional near-40 and near-single woman trying to find your way, you will enjoy this book. It really captured urban life of those in their 30s.

An enjoyable read, populated with well drawn, intelligent characters that I could relate to. It's a story of love lost & refound, and of families - those you're born into and those you intentionally create, and the overlap between the two.

I really expected to like this book, and I did....mildly. What disconcerted me was the writing style. It just didn't seem to flow to me and there did not seem to be a consistent voice. The main character, Pru, never made me care about her very much. In fact, she seemed downright unsympathetic at the beginning. Some of the expressions the author used just came off wrong at times. I still can't put my finger on what it was, but at times I would cringe at the awkwardness of the phrasing.
