Night Without End is probably my favorite MacLean novel (so far). The characters all seem to have stark contrasts and come from very different walks of life. The mystery starts as soon as the airliner is heard roaring outside the scientific outpost. The reader is continually scratching his or her head trying to solve the mystery of the crash and the background of the surviving passengers on board. The descriptive settings will have you searching for a warm place to read. The artic misery is captured very well as the story is told. In my opinion, this is one of MacLean's best.
