By the author of the acclaimed Amelia Peabody, Egyptologist series, this book shows a bit of the complexity of those stories. It isn't a formula 'girl meets boy, girl loses boy, girl gets boy back.' You'll suspect Who-dunnit, but change your mind several times before the mystery unravels at the end.

Elizabeth Peters is know for her "Amelia Peabody" books, but her stand alone's are just as good.
If you like adventure tales in exotic places then Elizabeth Peters is the one for you. This time she takes us deep into the heart of Ancient Mexico in a tale full of twists and turns.

This was an interesting read, not what I was expecting. I've been reading a lot of mysteries lately and this one was tame in comparison. Carol is a strong-headed, gutsy gal. I found myself skimming some sections, but overall it held my interest.
I liked this book. It was different from Peters other writing which was refreshing. Not that her other works are not just as good. Just something different and more modern. A nice read.
