Another great one from Child in the Jack Reacher series. This one takes place back in 1996 while Reacher is still in the Army. He has just received a medal and some new orders to attend a training school. But it turns out that the school is a front for a mission to find out why $100 million is being offered by a radical Muslim group for something undisclosed. A sleeper group in Hamburg, Germany, has heard that the money will go to an American. Reacher and his small group of CIA and FBI operatives are tasked with finding out who the American is and what could be worth so much money. This takes them to Hamburg where they must dig through secret identities, a German neo-Nazi group, secret messengers from Afghanistan, and an American who had been told tales of Davy Crockett and secret treasure by his uncle who had served in the Army from the 50s to the 70s.

Overall, I really enjoyed this fast-paced thriller in the Reacher series. I love the Reacher stories and would rank this one as one of the top ten in the series.

Best Jack Reacher novel yet, by far. The chain of deductions and educated guesses that lead Reacher and his team to the villain are especially brilliant.

Nothing gets me as excited as when I have a new Jack Reacher book in my hands. Well nothing lasts forever and I was disappointed in this one.

It started out exciting, Jack, an FBI andCIA agent are to be sent to Night School after they all received medals for their last mission. Of course, it was a front so no one was to know they were on a secret mission to find out why an American was trying to pay100 million dollars for something unknown.

The story unfolds as this intricate plot develops and I must say it was uninspired and humdrum! There were only two instances of Reacher's "Superman's" antics which I always look forward to.

I don't mind reading about the younger Reacher while in the Army, it certainly allows the author many story options to give us insight of his remarkable personality.

There is a review here somewhere that really made me laugh out load. The writer was talking about the Reacher we know, after Army life when he was traveling anywhere and everywhere he happened to land. She was wondering how he can go so many days wearing the same
underwear and sweaty socks!! I got a chuckle from that one.

Here's hope Mr. Child brings The Real Jack Reacher back!

This wasn't my favorite Reacher novel, as it didn't flow as well as they usually do. A lot of complicated details to try to keep straight, combined with a relatively bland plot. Not enough of the Jack Reacher-ness we've all come to expect.

This is the first book by Lee Child that I did NOT like. It seemed that he was off the pace when he wrote it.

Another super good script by Lee Child. Jack Reacher is a mans man and a hero of epic proportions in all ways that matter. A bit slower in description of the characters in this book then many of his it all worked well for rounding out the story line and making it a keep you coming back for more kind of book that is hard top put down.

Good one. Story about trying to keep small nuclear bombs out of the hands of Middle East when an ex military find them and tries to sell them.

Excellent. The travels through Germany and the multiple links to Cold War throwbacks lead to an exciting conclusion.

very painful to say but--this is terrible! I love the Jack Reacher that is retired and a lone wolf but this one goes back to while he's still in the military, I didn't get very far as it was just not interesting to me and more about a terrorism type story and I don't like those.

I think this might be about the 3rd Reacher book I've had to give low points for, so maybe Lee Child needs to go back and get on track with the character he created in the first books
