Excellent read, very suspensful with a little bit of romance that I have to have!!! This is a story of a kidnapping in a small town in Minnesota where things like this just don't happen. It was hard to put down and when it ended I couldn't help but be a little disappointed at all the stories left untold. To my great pleasure she continues this story in "Guily as Sin" which is also in my bookshelf. Check them out!!!!
Excellent book.

John Saul said of Tami Hoag's writing, "Tami Hoag writes the kind of can't-put-it-down suspense that keeps you on edge to the final sentence." I have liked other Hoag books I've read, and this one did not disappoint me.

At first the book annoyed me with all the woman struggle speach, but the book was well written, and made you care and tugged some emotional strings. The ending left you hanging in a way, because there is a sequal. Even with that, I would highly reccomend reading.
Tami Hoag writes the kind of cant-put-it-down suspense that keeps u always on edge to the final sentence. A young boy disappears in a quiet Minn. town.No witnesses or clues only a noteA hunt for a mad man
another fascinating complex mystery from a prolific author=disappearance of a young boy from after-school program on a cold Minnesota night..recommended.
Definitely a romantic mystery. Writing wasn't as tight and well-paced as Hoag's others, IMO. Story line was intriguing and I will read Guilty as Sin for the rest of the story.
Have to read Guilty as Sin to get the full impact of this novel in the course of events.
One of her best
This is a good read. Cant put it down until you know the ending.
A good murder mystery.
my first book by Tami Hoag and I liked it. the audio was good to listen to. the reader reads it fast, but it was a good story line, one you could relate to. abridged - 2 tapes
A good suspense ffeaturing female investigator.
This is the first of a two book series. Guilty as Sin is the second.
Both are a must read for the full story.

Excellent mystery, very hard to figure out!
Tami Hoag writes terrific mysteries that keep you turning the pages until the early morning hours. Night Sins takes place in a small Minnesota town where crime doesn't happen....until a young boy disappears. Megan O'Malley is out to prove herself as the first woman field agent for the BCA [Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension] and she faces a town full of good-old boy law enforcement officers who don't take her seriously, except for chief of police, Mitch Holt, who takes her very seriously; only not the way she wants him to. As the search for Josh continues, secrets are revealed, passions are kindled and Mitch and Megan both have to face their pasts and deal with them. A very engrossing read.
The book was very good!!! Just wish I had known there was a "part 2" book if you want to know the outcome!!!
Not my favorite Tami Hoag. I usually really enjoy her books. This one seemed repetitive and the plot was just odd. 2 out of 10
overall a good read
Eight-year-old Josh Kirkwood is abducted outside the hockey arena where he has finished practice. Only one clue is left, a note that talks of ignorance and sin. Josh's parents, Dr. Hannah Garrison and Paul Kirkwood are inconsolable. Dr. Hannah Garrison was to have picked Josh up after hockey but she was detained at the hospital due to an emergency.
Megan O'Malley, Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Investigator and Mitch Holt, Chief of Police for the town of Deer Lake, Minnesota set out to investigate Josh's disappearance. The kidnapper leaves two more clues but there's no break in the case.
Tami Hoag does a fine job in building this first of a two-part story. Go on to Guilty As Sin for the full story. Night Sins and Guilty As Sin together make an excellent story that you won't want to put down.

I have always like Tami Hoag, her stories are very well written. They are full of suspense and wonderful characters.

Suspenseful and quick read.
Tami Hoag mixes a little suspense, mystery, romance. This is a typical book of hers, and quite good.
Another one that I was unable to put down and it makes you fear that this could happen to anyone.
Great Read
GREAT BOOK!!!!
This book starts out fast and never stops the chilling ride until the very climax. Definitely a winner.

A young boy disappears. there are no witnesses, no clues - only a note, cleverly taunting, casually cruel. has a cold-blooded kidnapper struck? Or is this the reawakening of a long-quiet serial killer?

Very, very thrilling. Reads so easily I was surprised how quickly I read it. But it is very satisfying.
I thought this book was leaning a bit to heavily on the romance side. The small amount of action comes at the end with no satisfaction. I am currently reading Guilty as Sin in hopes of a good resolution.
The book was okay to listen to but not to read in my opinion.
Good read!
Couldn't put it down, has a sequel too!
Another great read
I liked it , It is a well thought out plot
Can't put down suspense. Bestseller.
I completely loved this book and I reccomend it to anyone.
excellent!
I just discovered Tami Hoag last year through a friend who knows her. I race through her books as they're impossible to put down. If you like mystery/suspense this one will do it!
Pretty interesting, as far as mysterys go
This is an interesting story, but I found it too depressing at times. It seems that the secret lives of many in this small town are sad and dismal. Even though I enjoyed the first part of this story (it's continued in Hoag's book Guilty as Sin), I don't plan on reading the second part for a while. While reading Night Sins I found myself wondering if anyone in this small town had a normal, happy life.
As one reviewer said "the leads all have sordid pasts" and it seems as if the only happy, innocent person in the story is abducted.
Library Journal Review:
This well-crafted romantic suspense novel by the author of Lucky's Lady (Bantam, 1992) is a tautly written account of life in a small Minnesota town. Megan O'Malley, the first female field officer of the state's criminal investigation bureau, is forced into a close working relationship with Mitch Holt, the town's police chief, when a child goes missing.
Against the background of a multi-jurisdictional criminal investigation, dialog and plot flow smoothly, and elements of romantic tension that serve to define the characters further are seamlessly inserted into the basic mystery, suspense theme.
Current news topics, such as the presence of known pedophiles in a community and the problems of childcare in homes with two working parents, help fuel important subplots. The investigatory techniques are all presented intelligently and provide a strong framework for this gripping suspense tale.

Good read!
If you've never read this author and like murder mysteries with a hint of romance, then you need to read Tami Hoag!
Another great Tami Hoag thriller. Couldn't put it down!
A page turner........couldn't put it down .....finished it last night late.......must read before reading Guilty as Sin.....unfortunately I read the sequel first and now have to read it again....
A chilling book about the murder of a young boy. From the prologue:
"They found the body today. Not nearly as soon as we expected. Obviously we gave them too much credit. The police are not as smart as we are. No one is. We stood on the sidewalk and watched...We stood on the sidewalk as the ambulance came with it's light flashing, and more police cars came, and the cars of people from around town. We stood in the crowd but no one saw us, no one looked at us. They thought we were beneath their notice, unimportant..."

Great suspense novel - I enjoyed it.
Normally Hoag either has me from page 1 or doesn't catch my attention at all. This was a case of the latter.
Good character development, good dialog, good settings although the focus on the landscape was tedious after a while.
The ending was a yawn, who wants to read a second book just to wrap up the first book, ESPECIALLY when there is NO mention on the cover that this is book 1 of 2. Irritating. I like my stories to have real endings instead of insinuations.
At this point I'll try Guilty as Sin and see how this ends. 540 page investment in this story.

Suspense through out the book..How difficult life and work is.. Sharing the bad and the good times. And who done it??? Now I have to read Guilty as Sin
Hoag's books are full of suspense and romance. This one is no different! A young boy disappears....an investigator on her first case....a local cop fears a serial killer lurks in his town...together they hunt this madman and are drawn to each other.
Excellent suspense! Couldn't put it down.
Love anything by Hoag...
Really good book; keeps you turning pages!
Fiction, tough-minded investigator on her first, make-or-break case, local cop, small town...hunting a madman
I don't read many mysteries, but this one was full of suspense. I read it in one day (dinner was late!) and have already ordered the sequel through PBS! A good "what will happen next?" summer read.

Another hit by Tami. Really intense mystery to find a kidnapped boy. The authorities are taunted by the kidnapper and time is running out. The boys parent marriage was falling apart before and the situation doesn't get much better. I found the end a little disappointing.
