It's great to be back with Harry Bosch! Harry starts out investigating the shooting of a Chinese liquor store owner in South LA. It appears gang-related, but Harry uncovers clues that show involvement of the triads. Then his daughter in Hong Kong is kidnapped, and Harry races across the globe in a desperate attempt to get her back.
Connelly still has quite a few tricks up his sleeve. He always manages to keep the reader in tune with his characters, and for most of the book the story proceeds as a straightforward thriller, with the reader agonizing with Harry all the way. It's only at the end that he throws in the unexpected twist, a surprise that throws a whole new light on the plot, and confirms once again why he is one of the top writers in the genre.

I just finised this book today. I thought this was a little too violent.
good story
I have enjoyed all of Michael's books, but this one had me looking up images and Utube videos of all the places he went to neat places in Hong Kong. Later found movies on his web site but had more fun traveling through Hong Kong on a travel web site I found. To all the streets, buildings, parks mentioned. A great thriller with the added interest of culture of gangs and Hong Kong history.
The Authors name draws me because I know I can trust that anything he writes I am going to enjoy. A Harry Bosch story is always a great adventure. I always find a sadness, brillance, amazing heroism with tons of supense and a great twist that keep me reading.
All Connelly's book Harry Bosch never disappoint me.

This is another Harry Bosch Great Book.
I really enjoyed this fast moving story especially because it had unexpected twists and turns.
Excellent Harry Bosch mystery where he must go to Asia to solve the problem.
A new homicide case has Harry Bosch investigating the death of a Chinese man who owned a liquor store. It seems like a robbery gone wrong, but Harry's investigation points to a Chinese triad (gang) connection. When Harry and Detective Chu make an arrest in the case, Harry receives a video of his daughter, Maddie, who has been kidnapped in Hong Kong. Harry drops everything to go to Hong Kong and rescue his daughter from the hands of the triad.
Another entertaining Harry Bosch mystery from Michael Connelly. I liked the whole triad angle of this story. Harry working with his ex-wife and her friend, Sun Yee, while looking for Maddie was interesting. The whole story was pretty good, but I was disappointed by how the end was written and how we were told about exactly what happened. That didn't work for me since I'd rather be "shown" instead of "told". My rating: 4 Stars.

This book was fantastic. I believe the best story line of twists.
Harry Bosh goes to Hong Kong. However this book is too losesly woven to suit me as much as the previous one's in the series. Still good though
Wow wow wow, I loved this book. I've been waiting patiently for the new Harry Bosch novel to come out and was NOT disappointed. Things happen in this story that change Harry's life forever, and I'm excited to see how Michael Connelly deals with these changes in his next novel "The Reversal". The twists in this story don't end until the last page. The methodical way it's told from first page to last will leave you as surprised as Harry when you learn the truths at the same time he learns them.
This is a sad one. Harry Bosch is on call and he does his duty and he does it well even though the case he's on this time becomes very personal when his daughter is kidnapped. Very good book.
Without a doubt, the BEST book in the Harry Series thusfar! Exciting tale of intrigue, international travel and much growth for Harry.. Fabulous!
Harry Bosch plods his way through this not-so-thrilling thriller chasing Chinese bandits all the way to Hong Kong and back in what turns out to be a wild goose chase that serves only to turn his life upside down. The surprise ending adds irony to the entire plot and will change the landscape of future Bosch books, but is not so impressive in the telling. If you are a fan of the series you will have to read it for continuity sake; but, if you are looking for a good mystery, keep looking.
This is not my favorite Harry Bosch book. The story was not as interesting as his others and not a thrilling. It was only OK for me.
one of harry's best. fast read and full of excitement and lots of twists and turns
