I began reading this to my five-year-old son right after the first series. Can't say I was as impressed with these characters as I was the first set's, but we were first very happy to see the Grace twins show up to tie them together! We were both disappointed to see that the rest of this series is not published yet. :( We will have to wait... Same quick read and imagination, just not quite as enthralling as the first. Same need for mommy-editing though. Older kids (which they were certainly intended for) won't have any issues with name calling/grouchy kid stuff, but I avoid reading certain words to my young one - don't need to get a report from preschool! ;)

An interesting spin-off of the original series. Introduces us to new characters, one likable, one a sneaky liar. Brought back a couple of the characters from the first book. Even had a cheesy way of adding the authors 'as themselves' to it. (Not a big fan of that kind of plot device, especially when the author characters in the book don't match with what they've been trying portray themselves as in the prefaces and on the extras I saw on the DVD.) But, it's a quick read and fairly decent enough for me to read more, but not to spend something other than a PBS credit on.
