Zoe is a nobody -- a poor orphan with nothing of her own but a golden singing voice. When a greedy king exploits her voice to capture a unicorn, Zoe rebels and helps the unicorn escape. LOVE this book! I am kind of a book snob and can't stand cheesy illustrations or poor writing. When my kids like a book, (as is true of many children) they want to read it multiple times, so I choose books that I will enjoy reading over and over again! My daughters and I alike adore the mystical storyline and gorgeous illustrations of this one. I don't mind at all that they consistently ask for it. We originally checked it out from the library, but I'm hoping to eventually add it to our home collection. In the meantime, I'm sending it to another mom who appreciates the finer things in books. It has some good lessons as well: the destructive power of acting on our fears, and the redeeming power of good choices and friendship.
