This quick read is highly, highly enjoyable. I'm not a fan of British mystery, but this could change my mind. It plays out like a Friday the 13th film, but following a foreboding poem. You have a strange feeling that just like the poem, the characters will start to drop one by one, until none are left. For me, it was impossible to guess the culprit. Recommended for mystery lovers as an absolute classic.

Having read the story 10 years ago in high school I really looked forward to reading it again. Knowing the solution to the mystery did not hinder the experience of the story at all.

This is one of my favorite mysteries!!! I will not give you a synopsis but only this: if you want a good introduction into mystery books, then pick this one up. A classic!!!!

This is one of Christie's best mysteries. It has a great twisted plot with lots of surprises to keep you in suspense. People of several ages, professions, and British classes are invited to an isolated island by devious means only to find that their host and hostess, Mr & Mrs U. N. Owen never arrive. Shortly after all have settled in, the butler plays a recorded message charging that each of those present in the house was a murderer and though they could never be delivered to rightful justice under British law, justice would now be served. Of course each denies the charges against themselves, but to the child's nursery rhyme of Ten Little Indian Boys, each meets his or her fate and death. As the death toll mounts, the remaining victims search frantically for the killer and a way off the island. Tension builds amongst them until they realize that the person killing them off one by one has to be one of them. Who is the real U. N. Own and how can they find him and save themselves? A suspensefully great story with a really astonishing ending.

Excellent mystery by Agatha Christie, it was also released under the name of Ten Little Indians. Ten people are trapped together in a secluded hotel and are murdered one by one. No one knows who to trust, but as each one is killed, the others try to stay together in small groups to survive, to no avail. This story will keep you guessing to the final survivor.

A decent read. A little disappointing as it's not really a murder mystery to solve so much as a 'kill everyone off one by one'. I would have liked to have seen the action after the discovery of the 10 dead people on the island. I would have preferred the police inspection and the 'whodunnit' discovery.

I did not really like this book. It was too wordy and wasn't suspenseful at all with all of the accusations thrown around by those still among the living. It was further ruined by who I actually figured out was the murderer. There was no climax, no fear, nothing. The poem sounded so suspenseful, but didn't deliver.
Everyone is so flat. And it's hard to remember who is who, and I felt like I spent half of the book trying to remember who each one was. Sometimes Christie reminds you, but most times she doesn't. I found myself hopelessly flipping through pages of repetitive dialogue to get to the next murder, only to be disappointed it was no big spectacle. I understand that things were more "conservative" when she wrote it, but I've read more suspenseful things during that time period than this.
Needless to say, I will not be picking up another of her novels.

And who is the murderer? And why isn't their host there to greet them? Or is he/she?

This is a great, easy read when you just need a little change. its a great story that keeps me in suspense everytime I read it.

This is my favorite Agatha. It kept me guessing all along. Kind of a version of the locked room with ten people alone on an island in a gothic setting. They meet their demise one by one until the survivor is left to face the consequence of being prosecuted for nine deaths. But, who will be the last one standing? Suspicion swings back and forth. If you pay attention you may be able to outwit the author: maybe not.

For various reasons, ten strangers are invited to an island off the Devon, England coast, only to find none are there for the reason they think!
This mystery became a real page-turner when the ten little soilders/Indians began dropping off one by one! My eyes were on sticks, eager to get to the end to find out who was behind it! You suspect everyone, but can never guess the truth, but it makes complete sense in the end.
I did feel it dragged a bit through the middle, becoming a bit repetitive with everyone thinking to themselves and trying to figure out who the killer was...and in the end, I could say it's a bit far-fetched, but still satisfying. I give this one a solid B. It's a good mystery!

There is a classic movie that was based off of this book. If you liked the movie, you will enjoy the book although I warn you: the ended is a little different!

This was a great mystery. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out "who-done-it" but this time I was not at all on the right track. It was a quick moving page turner. Though I will admit that the language that it's written in took a bit to get used too.
I've only read one other Christie novel and after this one I'm hooked. It's no wonder that she's such a popular author.

This is a classic, with all the positive elements (and of course some of the negative ones) of Christie. I got it because I found I didn't actually possess a copy, although I had read it several times. That means it passed the test: if I can re-read it (usually multiple times) it gets shelf space (always in short supply). Now that I have it, I wouldn't dream of re=posting it--I'm going to keep it all for myself!

With the way that her stories always take place in some place cut off from the rest of the world, with no way of getting out, she'd have a real difficult time creating a story in today's interconnected world, with the possible exception of a group of people stuck in line at a California Department of Motor Vehicles office.
This is my favorite book ever! One by one, invited guests and servents of Indian Island are being murdered, all based on the theme "Ten Little Indians". Typical Christie, full of twists, turns and red herrings galore...This book will make a mysttery fan out of anyone!
One of my all time favorites! Well written. The first 20 or so pages were tough to get past but the rest of the story was well worth the set up.

Author Agatha Christie has created yet another wonderful mystery that had me hooked from the beginning. Very colorful group of story characters. Lots of action and no slow gaps in between. This is better than TEN LITTLE INDIANS.
Wonderful classic who done it book. Although it may be difficult for today's audience, I urge anyone to stick with it because it just simply a good read. I read it in one night. Love it when a book captures you like this one does.

I had never read Agatha Christie before. I read this for a book club and really enjoyed it. I lliked how she made you think to stay ahead of the story. I really became involved in it.
Christie remains an outstanding author, even though these were written years ago.
