This book has been a homeschooling mainstay in our home for decades now! Three generations have carried it about to identify reptiles, trees, insects, wildflowers and more. An excellent, friendly resource that will find a beloved spot in any home. The cry, "Gramma, I need the book!" with the screen door banging behind them is almost a daily occurence! Get it!

This a great all-purpose guide for mammals, birds, insects, trees and wildflowers. I especially like the wildflower section. This is one book I want each of my kids to have when they leave home.
This book talks about North Amarican animals and flowers ect. and about sea mammals to. A very good guide to nature.
I had this book as a young child and I pored over it so much and really learned a lot. It's full of illustrations of every sort of living thing you would find in the wild in North America. While it's a good (albeit not completely exhaustive) all-in-one guide to continent's significant flora and fauna for people of any age, it is IDEAL for kids.
No photos, reasonably well done drawings.
