The first two words that come to mind with this cookbook are: thick and exhaustive. Its focus is on building healthy families through a gluten-free, dairy-free, whole foods lifestyle, and there's a lot of text (though not so many references) to back that up. As a result, it's a little overwhelming - the lifestyle part of the book kind of takes over, and even though there are many many recipes, they somehow still take a backseat.
As an experienced gluten-free cook, I still found this book a little overwhelming and inaccessible. I did not run out and buy chia seeds or make a green smoothie immediately after reading the book. However, I did get a few good ideas - such as making a giant pot of chickpeas and portioning them out for many recipes / uses.
I should also mention that while this book does not use dairy, gluten or sugar, there are some fish and chicken recipes, so it's not completely vegan. The author also does a good job of warning about cross contamination issues.
Overall, for me, three and a half stars. If you are really into whole foods gluten free healthy living stuff (rather than just a celiac trying to find something to eat) you might rate it higher.
