For what it was, The Nymph King was an entertaining read but the heroine bordered on irritating through most of the book. Valerian was your typical sexy alpha male who knew all women wanted him, except our heroine, at first, so watching him try to rationalize why Shaye didn't fall under his spell was fun. The lore associated with the Nymph's was fascinating and the secondary characters were great. Overall, it kept me occupied. My only complaint was the heroine. The lady protested way too much and nearly sucked the fun out of the story.

Arrogant, sensual male meets cynical, hardboiled female and gets the shock of his millenniums old life....she wants nothing to do with him. Add in a challenge for the woman by one of his warriors, a sea god who is VERY vexed with the nymphs (kill them all!) and a war with the dragons to regain the nymph women and keep the captured castle and you have enough action to up the tension in the adventure side of this book. It goes without saying that sensual tension is there from the first few pages. Funny in places and nice character development occurs for the hero, heroine and some others.

This is pretty much the second strictly romance novel I've read in my life, but it's probably one that's going to set the standard for all other paranormal romances. I couldn't put it down, so enthralled was I with Valerian and Shaye's relationship, which was sexy, funny, and completely memorable. The ending felt perhaps a bit rushed due to its neatness and tie-in with earlier books in the series, but all in all, I was satisfied, and will most definitely be picking up Gena Showalter's books for future romance reads.

I usually really love Showalter, but this one is bad. The writing is sloppy and the leads are annoying.

This was a really fun book! The nymphs were definitely hot! Now I've got the read the rest of the series!

While a bit different from my usual reads, this book was quite the sensual story. The thing that made this book stand out to me was how easily I feel into the world of Atlantis that Showalter created, even with two toddler boys afoot.
Book 3 of the Atlantis series, this one was my favorite of the whole series. I literally could not put it down once I started reading. A great series!!

I did enjoy this book but the author spent too much time on sex and not enough on what could be a fantastic story.
Just to think that Atlantic is all paranormal creatures made from the Gods is just a fantastic storyline that could be a great series. Not that I'm against sex but what a story this could have been.
It is worth the read but I just feel it could have been better.

This is an excellent read. Valerian is the man of your dreams.
Wonderful read! Showalter does not let you down.
Another great book by Showalter. I loved this one as much as the others...it was a fun read & very sexy...I couldn't put it down!
these were so good, couldn't put them down
A bit over done, but still an entertaining read.
A great book filled with mythical cities and creatures.A story that shows the importance of love and the lengths people will go for those they love.A book that anyone would enjoy reading.
I was pretty excited to read this book in the Atlantis Series. Everything mentioned previously in the series describes the nymphs as the strongest warriors in Atlantis although they are the most laid back. They won't bother you if you don't bother them first.
Valerian, King of the Nymphs, has led his army to capture a castle from the dragons. To retaliate the dragons stole the nymph females. Valerian's men are getting antsy and weak because even though Valerian is still getting sex to keep his strength up, his men aren't. Valerian finally decides to lead them to the surface world to capture unattached woman to have sex with, but swears that he won't claim any of the women from the men. Unfortunately for Valerian he recognizes his mate, Shaye, among the woman. Now he has to deal with figuring out how to claim her without breaking his word and how to get her to want to be with him.
As I was reading I was really curious to find out how the author would swing Shaye falling for Valerian. The man doesn't have any respect for women other than for their bodies. He has a huge ego and has slept with a gargantuan amount of women. For a women coming from modern earth I'd expect those to be pretty big issues that they have to work through together. Unfortunately there was much more time spent on sex and lusting to have sex. Shaye did try to make the nymphs see that what they were doing was wrong but she easily ignored her own objections when it came to lusting after Valerian.
The second half of the book where there was more interaction with the dragons and vampires was more interesting. It seemed like a little more time was spent on the plot and a little less on the sex. I wish more time had been spent making Valerian and Shaye seem like they were really falling in love. It's sad to say, but I felt more of a connection between the characters in the secondary romance. One part that I did think was funny though was in the beginning where Valerian kept asking Shaye if she could smell him. I thought it was pretty cute.

What can I say except yummmm! This was a great read from start to finish! I am now reading the book2 in this series and have to say book one was ever so much fun also! I highly recommend this series as it has adventure, love, betrayal, and of course the sexual elements we have come to know Gena Showalter for! This one definitely isn't short of that at all! You won't be disappointed one bit in this book, much less the others in the series.
One of Gena's best of the Atlantis series so far. Valerian was hot. Shaye should have given in to him way earlier than she did. There was secondary love triangle, very irresistable. And to see the Nymph's as the Dragon's enemies was interesting. Gena masterfully had me routing for both sides. Now, I can't wait to read about the vampires.
I really loved this book. this series would make a great movie
Adore this book. I think this is the funniest one out of the series. How could you not love phrases like, "I just had Botox...Do you see a goddamn wrinkle? I can't lift my brows to find out - the muscles won't work."? And I wished I was the one who thought up anti-cards. What a great idea!
I know there are comments that there are too much sex in this book but I think it is a consistent with her other ones. I actually expected more because this is about nymphs after all.
Overall it is such a fun, light hearted book. Some of the scenes I think would bother hard-core feminists (there were a few times I muttered "pigs" during some of the scenes), but I did enjoy the book immensely.

Good for light reading.
This is a great book!
It's a mythical world of dragons, demons and nymphs..It's magicial,
powerful and a world of dark seduction. Enter Atlantis with the nymph king Valerian. None can resist his blatant sensuality and potent allure.

Females young and old, beautiful and plain crave Valerian's touch. None can resist his blantant and potent allure...until he steals Shaye Holling from a Florida beach and holds her prisoner in his underwater kingdom. The cynical Shaye wants nothing to do with the might warlord, but she's inexplicably drawn to him. For underneath the warrior's arrogant beauty lies a complex and powerful man.
