Most interesting idea for a book I have seen for a long time. A private detective just starting on a missing persons case is stricken with blackouts, headaches, a cerebral hemorrhage. The news only gets worse from there! He is determined to get back to the case but those holes in his memory really get in the way! A fascinating read.

Nick Petrov, a PI with a reputation for finding lost children, has become something of a celebrity as a result. The story of his most famous case was immortalized in a made-for-TV-movies starring Armand Assante as Nick and Kim Delaney as now-police chief Elaine Kostelnik, the other woman who broke up his marriage. When a woman approaches him for help in locating her teenage daughter, he senses something isnt quite right. As he begins his investigation, he experiences headaches, unusual sensations, vivid memories hes never had before. Just as all the pieces of the puzzle begin to come together, he wakes up in a hospital room missing 2 weeks of his life and there are large gaps in his memory of the days before, including the investigation in which he was engaged. This was a pretty good mystery, but most of all a fascinating exploration of memory and self.
