This book is a real page turner. It is one of those books that keeps you up late and everyone wonders the next day at work why you are so sleepy!!

This book is about a man's hatred that destoys his own son and causes others to suffer as well. It delves into the mind of someone totally obsessed with hatred. I used it as a discussion topic for why we should NEVER be tempted to hate because it will only destroy us!
I like what Ted Dekker is trying to do which is make us think but his preference for the graphic almost over the edge writing goes to the extreme. Maybe some people need that but I don't think ALL of us qualify for that catagory which in turn keeps us from reading some of his writings. People from the streets aren't the ones reading his books.

Another great book for Ted Dekker. Great story with an amazing unexpected twist at the end!
This was my first Ted Dekker book and I must say I was quite impressed. A very "dark" read for those of you that like that type of genre. I could hardly put it down. You will enjoy this book very much!

When Stephen learns of his real mother and her death he becomes involved in trying to discover more about her and it is leading him to the Stones of David.
The story takes place in the 1970's then goes back to 1944 during the Holocaust when his mother was in a concentration camp and he was born there. As the story unfolds it does not go into gory details about the Holocaust but about the two women's relationship with the 'boss' of the camp.

This seemed different to me than the other Dekker novels I have read. Interesting, a bit slower, but different. Maybe the topic of obsession just didn't connect with me or I just did not connect with characters as well as I have in the past but I had a hard time staying in sync with the choices made by almost all of the characters. It just didn't seem feasible.
That being said, this still ends up as an entertaining story...though you have to wait it out until the very end...and I do appreciate the point that he comes around to on how much God loves us. It doesn't take a long time to get through it, and if you like Dekker, then it is probably worth it. Otherwise, I might opt for something else.

As in a lot of Ted Dekker books it has a tendency to go on a bit. But even at that it is interesting and a different concept.
Awesome book about a man's obsession with a clue from a holocaust survivor...
This book is a very good read. It takes you back in time to make the present understandable. I have watched shows on tv that go back and forth and I get lost, but in this book it is timed just right, which wants you to turn the page. I found it hard to find a stopping point because I needed to find out.
I thought this was a very good book. the main storyline of a old Nazi trying to get back one of the Stones of david that was took from him while he was in charge of a prison camp. as always in a Dekker book the main theme is the battle between good versus evil. Very well written.
This book, as with all of Ted Dekker's books, is full of suspense, urging you to continue to the next chapter & then the next. This story connects present day America to prople & a consentration camp (Torun) in a Nazi controlled area of Poland. This is a must read!!!
Another fantastic read by Ted Dekker!! On the edge of your seat reading!!
Slow start but once I got into it I couldn't put it down!!
I haven't read it yet, but will soon. Ted Dekker is my favorite author.
