A deeply committed and beautifully written analysis of our society's increasing demand that women be thin.

I read this book during the throes of an eating disorder some years ago, and it helped me tremendously. I was able to see how society indoctrinates the idea of being a certain body type in order to be acceptable. I felt much better about my body and why I had been so obsessed with it in the first place.
