This book picks up about ten years after the terrible events that occurred in 'Off Season.' A survivor of the cannibal clan, thought to be dead, has returned to the small town of Dead River, Maine with her new family and they are hungry. The sheriff, who thought he had killed off these savages ten years ago, is called out of retirement to help capture them, find their new cave. 'Offspring' is just as gory and disgusting as it's predecessor with enough back story given to stand alone.

When I read this book, I didn't know it was a sequel and it stands alone just fine. It's gross enough and disgusting enough and no indication that it's a sequel. If you like gore and like to be disgusted with your horror, you'll like it. Let's just say this, "Chomp chomp"

The sequel to Off Season, a fast read, maybe too short, the usual blood, terror, guts, and gore. If you loved Off Season you'll like this.

Jack Ketchum beats Stephen King when it comes to horror...hands down! With one exception...Ketchum's books actually make sense and don't ramble off the storyline like Stephen King does.

That being said, Offspring is the second (and final?) book to the wild, cannibalistic, savage "family" that originally started in Off Season. They thought they caught all of them, but Woman remains to start another family.

This book is fast-paced, hard to put down, vivid in details and imagery, and doesn't fail to provide the horror-genra-loving reader. Another excellent read from Jack Ketchum.

this was a very easy book to read pretty sick and a little scary at times. But not the scariest or most gruesome book ive ever read. hat i did like about the book was that the story was to the point they didnt wander too much on mundane details and what i didnt like about the book was maybe it was a little too much to the point so much that it seemed to leave out information about the characters that made you care weather or not they lived or died.
But i suppose a good thing is i did not feel as if i wasted time reading this book it was well worth the day it took.

I really enjoyed this book. However, if you don't like blood and guts, this book is not recommended for you. It is very bloody and graphic. Jack Ketchum tells the tale of imaginary forest people (you can judge if they are human) who like to survive on canabalism. If you want a thrill chill, this book may be for you.

I did like Offspring. However, I really enjoyed the first book, Offseason, much more. Offseason was a lot more creepy and gory.

Definitely horror!

Might need a strong stomach to get through this but I've read worse.

What I did like about it was the fact that Ketchum stuck with the story and didn't just fill pages with descriptions that are boring so the story moved along at a good clip.
