What a lovely surprise!
I got this book through my NY library cooperative.
I expected a lovely "coffee table" type of edition, but it turned out to be so much more. Having come from west of the Mississippi and having recently bought a home that was built in 1790, I was looking for information about the way these homes were set up so I could adhere to that spirit.
I stayed up until 3am inhaling every page. I now probably know more about how people lived in these homes than anyone I am acquainted with. It was fascinating and broke every stereotype of dark, drab, and dull New England.
This is a book I absolutely ust add to my own collection. If you live in an house that is 200 + years old, you must read this book. It will change you forever.
