As all of Jared Lee - illustrated Old Lady books, it has a happy ending. Most of my 1st grade kids seem to like it better that she doesn't die

This is a cute valentine book, but not fabulous or terribly witty.

My kids and I have enjoyed most of the "There was" books, but this one is bad! This one seems to have been thrown together just to have one related to Valentine's.
