I had high hopes for Oleander House. I liked it, just not as much as I thought I would. It's the first book in the Bay City Paranormal Investigations series. We meet Sam, who is hired to do technical work with BCPI. The group is investigating a haunting at Oleander House and things get really creepy. Some of the members experience a malevolent type spirit and they are trying to figure out what it is. Sam is gay, but is not out. He's attracted to his boss, but Bo is married with kids. However, Bo gives off mixed signals and leaves Sam wondering what is going on. Throughout the story, Sam is fighting his attraction and it starts to get a little old. This book has suspense, violence and a little gore.

PLOT: A team of paranormal investigators is hired to look into the goings-on in a haunted house in Mississippi. New to the team is Sam Raintree, who has an immediate attraction to his new boss, Bo.

NOTE: This book comes with the following warning: This title contains explicit male/male sex, intense violence, and graphic language.

Review: This first book in the Bay City Paranormal series is not terrible, but has many annoying points. I found the dwelling on Sam's attraction to Bo and his reactions unconvincing and pointless. It's an easy-to-read book, but it didn't really wrap things up by the end -- probably as an inducement to continue reading the series.

I really like the paranormal aspect of this story more than the romance. There were definitely some creepy moments while reading this story and wouldn't have minded a little more detail on it, which, judging by the ending will be more of it with a sequel. As for the romance, I hope something will come out of it. I am hook on the story though and will read the next one.
