A Charles Dickens Classic...a must read in the "Classic" novels
"a classic" readers won't be disappointed in this literature
I read this book to read a classic, and although some of the prose is long and at times boring. That being said I loved this book, and Its a classic and should be read by all.
A nice copy of the classic.
Although I used to consider abridged books almost amoral, my son has really enjoyed these series, which make the classic adventures much more accessible for the ages at which the stories hold the most appeal. He may go back to the original when he's older -- but meanwhile he has enjoyed the books immensely and has developed a good familiarity with much of the Western canon.
Classic Dickens.
One of Dickens' classics from the early part of his career...
This is a classic book, and one everyone should read at least once before they die.
Liked this story but not as much as Tale of Two Cities
It is a classic! Great read!
How can you go wrong with Dickens? One of his best.
Good book, just never really got into Twist. I love Dickens. Somehow, not this one.
Dickens has a wonderful way of writing that brings you through twists and turns. A classic of literature that brings you through England & a poor orphan boys lives.
This is a tale of the orphan who is reared in a workhouse, runs away to London where he is captured by thieves and finally escapes is a novel of social protest, a morality tale and a detective story. Oliver Twist presents some of the most sinister characters in Dickens the master thief, Fagin, the leering Artful Dodger, the murderer, Bill Sikes, along with some of his most sentimental and comical characters. Only dickens could mix terror with farce with pathos with piety in one unified work.
Abrilliant reading of Dickens' classic.
Oliver Twist is a great novel by Charles Dickens.
This is not the Oxford World Classics edition that is shown in the picture. It is an abridged version that is part of the Treasury of Illustrated Classics for young children. I received this book in error from a PBS member who had the ISBN listed with the Oxford cover. I have tried to upload the correct cover, but only PBS staff can actually attach it to the ISBN.
This is the old-fashioned size for this series, but the cover is a bright, blue and grey diamond pattern instead of the uniform navy. Not really a review, but I hope helpful!
