Brooklyn is commissioned to restore a rare copy of "Beauty and the Beast". She recognizes it as one she once owned and had given to friends as an engagement gift. Sadly Max, the future groom is killed in a terrible accident....or was it an accident? How did the gift she had given the couple end up at the Covington Library? In her quest to find answers, Brooklyn is again involved with murder when she finds a rare book dealer dead....her tires slashed with a knife that belonged to her dead friend Max. I really enjoyed this book and it is in my opinion, one of the better additions to the series.

This is the 5th book in the series and I've read 6 of them so far. Fun mystery series. The main character is a bookbinder and restorer, which is cool. I love books about people who love books. Supporting characters are very interesting as well. Check it out, you'll love it! The 1st book in the series is called Homicide in Hardcover and the 8th book is coming out this June, so the series continues, yay!

I've just found this series and have read all 5, one right after the other. I can honestly say this has become one of my favorite cozy mystery series. This book had a lot of good twists and turns and was suspenseful, but fun. I can't wait to read the next book!

Another charming addition to the series. Being a " dead-body magnet" ,once again Brooklyn is involved in solving amurder. Along with her still charming lover, the mysterious Gabriel, family, and detective Lee, she manages. Book restoring restores more than books in this page-turner.

Author: Kate Carlisle

There may be grave consequences for bookbinder Brooklyn Wainwright as she attempts to solve two murders tied to one book... Brooklyn's chance to restore a rare first edition of Beauty and the Beast seems a fairytale come true -- until she realizes the book last belonged to an old friend of hers. Three years ago, Max Adams, a renowned, brawny papermaker, fell in love with a stunning beauty, Emily, and gave her the copy of Beauty and the Beast as a symbol of their love. Soon afterward, he died in a car crash, and Brooklyn has always suspected his possessive ex-girlfriend and her jealous beau.

Now she decides to find out who sold the book and return it to its rightful owner -- Emily. She believes a rare book dealer can assist her, but when she arrives at his shop, she finds him murdered. Is it possible the same couple who may have killed Daniel is now after his edition of Beauty and the Beast? With the help of her handsome boyfriend, Derek Stone, Brooklyn must unravel the murder plot -- before she ends up in a plot herself...

Let me start out by saying this is the first book in this series and by this author that I read. Since I didnt start reading the series from book one, I think my review might be considered a bit skewed and let me apologize to this authors fans but this is only one persons opinion.

Im sorry to say, I didnt finish the book. I just couldnt do it! Talk about a TSTL heroine, well this one takes the prize! Not sure how old this woman is but talk about acting like a teenaged girl. Her boyfriend is in security and another man in the story by the name of Gabriel, is a man with a shady past. Both men carry guns. For some reason, when Brooklyn discovers this fact, she is shocked, surprised and seemingly angry by this fact. The conversation between all the characters is stilted and coldit just doesnt flow. The plot, what there was of it, was choppy and just didnt come together.

I doubt that my opinion would be any different had I read the other books in the series first. I couldnt find anything in what I read to redeem this book for me. I dont plan on reading the other books in the series and I dont plan on reading anything more by this author.
