I found Harlan Coben just last year and have read every single book he has on the market. I love his writing and the way he builds his characters. It is an absolute pleasure to read his books in order and see their progression.

originally I thought the sports aspect would be a turn-off for me, but it has so little to do with the story that it didn't bother me at all.

If you're looking for a quick, good, fun read, this is the book for you.

Great story, full of twists all the way to the end. Couldn't put it down until I finished the whole thing. Coben does it best with just the right amount of suspense and humor.

This book has some continuity with the Coben book that follows it called "The Final Detail". It's not necessary to read One False Move first in order to enjoy the other one, but it would, let's say, "enhance the experience".

One of the best Harlan Coben, Myron Bolitar books! Myron agrees to protect a basketball star, Brenda Slaughter, but then learns that her father is missing, her mother left her mysteriouly when she was 5, and someone is threatening her. Of course Byron has Win there to help him but trying to determine why all this happened brings Myron very close to dealing with his own possible death. Don't miss this one?

Norm Zuckerman asks Myron Bolitar to be a bodyguard to star basketball player Brenda Slaughter. Brenda's father Horace, a mentor to Myron when he was a kid, has disappeared. Brenda has been receiving threatening calls and is being followed. One caller told her to contact her mother. That's not easy to do since her mother disappeared when she was a child. When Myron starts investigating Horace Slaughter's disappearance and the 20 year old disappearance of Anita Slaughter, he finds there are many people who don't want the truth to come out.

This is the fifth Myron Bolitar mystery. It has a more serious tone than the previous books in the series. Myron starts rethinking his personal life with Jessica. It doesn't help their relationship when right away Myron and Brenda are striking sparks off of each other. He is also given an ultimatum from Esperanza...make her a partner in MB Sports or she walks. The mystery is very well written. Some things that are just mentioned in passing turn out to be big clues. My rating: 5 Stars.

The suspense and drama in Coben's books amaze me. He has such a great way of involving so many characters and tying it all together in the end.

I just can't find any redeeming qualities in this book. Even the "good" guys are bad, very bad. The story is depressing, nobody really wins and there's just nothing uplifting at all about it. I should state that I am a fan of Harlan Coben, but not the Myron Bolitar books, and this one proved to be no exception. It's almost like they're written by a different author, or perhaps the author is just writing to a different audience. Or, in this case, perhaps the author was just really depressed? In any case, I'll read more Harlen Coban, but definitely no more Myron Bolitar stories. It certainly keeps your interest and is a quick read, but that's about all the positive I can give it. Goodbye Myron!

Myron agrees to represent a beautiful female basketball player as her sports agent and meanwhile try to protect her from death threats, while searching for her missing mother and father (or are they dead?) As usual, in a Harlan Coben book, you never really know what's going on until it finally all comes down. And meanwhile, it is difficult to put the book down. A wild ride!

Myron Bolitar, sports agent and p.i., agrees to protect basektball star Brenda Slaughter. This decision puts him in the middle of a decades-old mystery involving her missing father, one of the moneyed local families, and a gangster on the rise. An enjoyable ride with friends Esperanza, Win, and Big Cindy.

Brenda Slaughter is no damsel in distress. Myton Bolitar is no bodyguard. But Myron has agreed to protect the bright, strong, beautiful basketball star. And he's about to find out if he's man enough to unravel the tragic riddle of her life. Twenty years before, Brenda's mother deserted her. And just as Brenda is making it to the top of the women's pro basketball world, her father disappears too. A big-time New York sports agent with a foundering love life, Myron has a professional interest in Brenda. Then a personal one. But between them isn't just the difference in their backgrounds or the color of their skin. Between them is a chasm of corruption and lies, a vicious young mafioso on the make, and one secret that some people are dying to keep-and others are killing to protect.

She is getting death threats supposedly from her father...but as the book moves on, the clues become increasingly mysterious. Why did her mother disappear when she was five? How is her father involved with a powerful politician? Who is really behind her death threats? Myron is charged with solving all of these mysteries. Fast moving, compelling reading!
