This is a cute cozy with a spunky main character in Gwen who is certainly a "character"." With many zany sidekicks it is hard to determine "whodunit" as everyone makes a plausible suspect. Ends quickly, takes a little to get into, but a good easy read.

For some reason, I just didn't like this book. The beginning was a little confusing with so many oddly named characters, then the murder happened and I thought it was improving, then I found myself skimming and skipping more pages than I was reading. So, although my policy is to always finish a book I start, I stopped about halfway through.

I enjoy the character of "Nash," she's spunky, and a bit more thoughtful and erudite than some of the main characters in other cozies, and doesn't rush headlong and heedlessly into dangerous situations. The mystery kept me guessing, and although I'm sure some of the Jewish references went zipping over my head, they didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.

I really like the character of Gwen "Nash" Katz. She's fun and sassy, and definitely not the usual air-brained pushover found in most cozies. She's a bit hung up on her past, but she begins to work through some of that in this book. I like that the author lets us in to see her emotions, because so many of these cozies are annoyingly floating across the surface of any real character development.
There is an actual mystery present here too, with some interesting, if a bit "over-the-top" characters. It did have me guessing a bit until the end. I like how the author has her main character use some non-conventional methods to help her solve the murder.
I'm glad I didn't give up on this series after reading the first one. I'll definitely be reading the third.
