I loved this book! So well written and being a dog lover - such a great story!
Some really sad parts, but luckily a happy ending. Would definitely recommend!

I loved this book. When it first began I disliked the main character very much. The author very skillfully brought about the inner souls of all of the people involved. I can't even begin to tell you about the chapters written with the dog as narrator. What a powerful look into the life of a dog who may, by luck, fall into good or bad hands. I recommend this book to all who love a good story, especially dog lovers. Amazing.

Well, I must admit, I am the absolute prime audience for this book as not only a dog owner, but a pit-lover as well. This was a wonderful book! The writer did a lovely job of juxtaposing the life of a man and the life of a dog. She really worked to equate their lives, and it definitely worked. She evoked emotions and her plot, though slow to start, was riveting by the end. And while I think the pit bull has become a bit of a fad dog to promote their inherent goodness (and don't get me wrong, they are good dogs!), Wilson did a good job of making a beauty of the beast that society has also declared the pit bull to be. The chapters from the dog's point-of-view were a bit lacking in credibility, but all of the emotions raised in the book were quite genuine, which more than made up for her constantly pushing how similar this man and his dog were. Really, it was just a lovely book.

I love this poignant story; in fact, I cried my way through it. I do want to warn dog lovers, however, that there is a graphic depiction of the lives of dogs bred to fight that is very difficult to read.

Having read the reviews, I did expect a little happier book. While it ended well, I guess, it was almost too much for me what the dog had gone through. A good story, but it made me angry before it was over and it was a sad and rough journey.

I originally read this book from the library; I liked it enough that I wanted to share it with others, so I put it on my PBS wishlist. The two people to whom I've loaned it so far have like it, too! Good but not sappy.

The first part of this book was hard for me to get into. Initially I thought it was going to be rather boring. However, it finally started picking up & by the middle of the book, the story line had me hooked. It wasn't very emotionally tugging for me until the end. I give it a solid B rating. If you have or had pets that are/were dear to you, this is worth reading.

I absolutely loved this book!! It does have its heart-wrenching moments, one in particular. As a dog person, I truly loved how they each saved each other!!

I just finished this book moments ago. It is a book about the strength of the healing bond between human and dog - the similarities of our struggles when we hurt others, are hurting ourselves and the road to healing. Be prepared to be changed and to love the dog in your life even more than you already do.

A quick read and perhaps a bit predictable, but I really enjoyed the chapters written from Chance's point of view.

The only thing I disliked about this book is that it had an ending! I am an avid reader (and animal/dog lover), and this is certainly an amazing book. There are many thought provoking incidents/experiences in this book which certainly allow the reader to think about what it takes to find true happiness, as well as what really matters in life. Very well written. I highly recommend this book.

Nice story about a damaged man who meets a damaged dog and their journey to a new--and better--life.

Back and forth each chapter we are introduced to Adam and the next to a dog. We know eventually the two will met we just dont know how or when or what circumstances will bring them together. Each of these living beings are looking for redemption or just One Good Life

I found refreshing the voice of the dog not as usual dumb dog or needy dog . This dog owned its personality and wasnt going to change for anyone or so he thought. The same can be said for Adam until the two meet and only then does redemption seem possible.

A very smart and heart-wrenching book. I would defiantly recommend and say keep to read over again.

I loved this book, though difficult at times due to the subject matter. My favorite part was great getting the dog's point of view in a very realistic manner.

When Adam March first aquires his dog he doesn't even want it and decides to take it back to the pond. The pound was closed for about a week because of a flood so he is stuck with this dog for a few more days. As the book progresses it is heartwarming to see the love grow between Adam and his dog.
